The last time I removed the intermediate bearing in the case I used a slide hammer and destroyed the bearing. Being cheap like most of us are I decided to make my own puller. It is not pretty but it works great. All you need to make this is a junk intermediate shaft, old snap ring (I used the big one that is used on the intermediate shaft), 1/2"-13 all thread, and random hardware.
The snap ring was welded to the bottom of the bearing race, then the race was cut into two smaller pieces with two nuts welded to the top. The end of the intermediate shaft get cut off and a nut and some all thread welded to it. Here are some pics to give you a better idea on how to build one.
