i keep seeing threads about focus, or eclipse coils, but links/info are mostly dead ends.
what are the years/models i need to get for my GLH and what is needed to install it?

I'll bump this up because I am looking for the same info.
If you contact rich Bryant, he can set you up with some ba coilovers. You might want to swap to the later knuckles though I forget if that’s a necessity.
Search the boards for his name, he has full kits with camber plates for the best price that bolt on with minimal to no modifications.

I was using Daytona spindles, but I'm pretty sure the kit comes with the necessary spacers to fit the l.body knuckles. Personal preference, ditch the l body stuff and upgrade so you can use knuckles with removable hub bearings or larger brakes or both. Different years have different options, but you're not doing yourself any favors by keeping the stock front suspension. If you do upgrade the knuckles, the coil overs will fit as expected, I think. It has been so long since I did it, I don't remember what all I had to do.

The ball joints should be the same unless you have a really old lbody. I don't remember if the older lbodys from before 83/84 or so had different ball joints than the 85 and newer ones or not. If they did you could look for some 87/88 caravan control arms which are compatible and reinforced.
I do suggest getting the daytona knuckles.
The camber angle is different on the lbody and don't match what the coilovers are setup for.
So you will have a lot of positive camber to dial out with the camber plates if you use the lbody knuckles and spacers.
