98 neon R/T coupe Cincinnati, Ohio

I know someone out there is interested in coming over to the dark side of the lightweight neon world and throwing an SRT4 turbo setup on it

I have a 98 R/T coupe that I purchased earlier this year to use as a daily driver. It had a broken timing belt and a head with boogered up valves so the engine was replaced with a 85k engine. I've put 5k miles or so on it over the past 6 months. I have decided to sell because I have 5 cars total and need to downsize.

The GOOD / Mods:

new mopar head gasket (5k miles)
new water pump (5k miles)
newer oil pump (10k miles)
new timing belt and new style tensioner
newer stock clutch (<30k miles)
newer battery
headman short tube header
atx TB
k&n stock replacement air filter
booger bushings
newer tires (<10k miles)
newer brakes (not sure of mileage)
decent aftermarket rims
tape deck with CD changer
working moonroof
great condition interior
averaging 30MPG city driving
has been reliable


The BAD / Problems:

needs a catalytic converter (CEL is on because of it)
one of the front passenger side wheel studs is broken
shifter is sometimes hard to get into gear (i think the shifter cable may be stretched and I have replacement cables)
struts are newer (<30k miles) BUT seem to be semi-blown already (autozone cheapos)
when braking hard it pulls to the right a bit
a few spots of rust by the gas filler (not much)
a few spots of oxidation
a few dents here and there
trunk carpet is gone (taillights leaked)
rear bumper cover has some paint chipping (I have a OEM stock painted black replacement)

Overall I rate the car an 8/10. The exterior isn't perfect but it's decent for the age of the car. The interior is great but there are a few small burns in the driver's seat. Unfortunately the leather is completely off the steering wheel and I don't have the stock R/T rims. There hasn't been any problems with it (other than the above noted details) for 5k miles and it gets no worse than 30MPG. If I think of any other details I'll post them up.

$2200 (semi firm as I've spent a good amount of $$$ to get it running )

I forgot to ask in my pm does ac work?

The AC worked great back during the summer for a few months but towards the end of September I had it on and it seemed that the refrigerant stuff was gone and it wasn't as cool. I completely forgot about that.....I do remember that one of the AC hoses was melted to the other so I'd assume it has a small leak? I actually have an extra set of AC parts that I'd throw in...compressor, hoses, etc...

Dunny - I daily drive the identical car and love it. May I suggest creating a listing on neons.org? Although they are cheap too, it is the crowd for the car.

I had a 99 Neon ACR 2.0 that with a polished/milled head, Crane 0012 Grind Cam, long tube header, 55mm TB, CAI, Mopar Ecu made 165 hp/145 trq at the wheels. Ran a best 13.89 in the QTR.

You don't get the blue one until I'm dead! I may get to see the Omni tomorrow. Carla will probably want to kill me if I get it. We are going to try and work out a package deal and get the Omni along with a 89K mile '94 Shadow ES 3.0L/Auto the he is also selling that a buddy at work is wanting. We figure buy both and work out a GOOD deal.
