Think this rad will do the job?

My rad just doesn't cut it, with the condensor in front of it, it blocks too much flow. It runs hotter, even with a 180 thermostat plus its getting old. I can't fit anything larger than the stock size so looking at Honda rads and found this, what do you think? I figure it will work fine but would be nice to see what you guys think-

For $25 why not give it a try! Looks like it will work fine to me.

Look at the shipping, will be around $80 or so.

I know, theres so many choices, I found a few more that have the same outlet size as the van and then another rad with an inside shot, huge tubes.

Might want to try cleaning that stock rad CLR works if you take out the T-stat, and make sure you flush the snot out of the system. Also would use a new rad cap at the same time. CLR likes to swell the rubber, But man my rad looks brand new inside. It was a nasty slimy oily mess before.

I know, I have to CLR the heater core every year, but its still too small, I need something more efficient.

I always was under the impression a cross flow radiator was much more efficient than a downflow depending on the locationg of the upper and lower hoses.

I dyno'd over 400 through an N/A turizmo cross flow rad. Ran it for the last three years. With the 7 blade fan on at the track it worked like an EGT gauge. When my A/F was 12.0 or richer I could run the track and my temp gauge would just sit at 1/4 and heat cycle on the return road. But when I would get lean in the upper 12's it would rise all the way down the track! I think it worked so well because it's a dual pass.

Re: Think this rad will do the job?

My problem is I have no room for a larger rad than stock, which the core measures 17"x17". The Honda rad is pretty close to that, its a tad narrower but the same height. I think I am going to try one, but its going to be awhile, just bought a boat load of TIII parts, so now, tapped out,

I looked at those rads when I was sizing things up. I believe that some of them are a little thicker depending on make.

You are right, and some are larger too. I went thru quite a few listings, some are 1 inch thick, some are 1.5, some are 2 inches, then some are 16x13, some are 18x14,

I use a Transpro Radiator in my van. It's a 1" thick single row aluminum core/plastic tank rad for the V-6 application. I also use the V-6 fan, *not* the 4 blade stock one... It runs cool in the 104 F weather we got here. BTW it was $60 US.... I can get you the # for it if you can't find it.

There is probably somthing wrong with your radiator. I have a stock replacement from autozone. Its got a 4" thick intercooler in front of it and a large tranny cooler and mine still runs really cool, almost too cool.

That fully aluminum radiator would look really pimp though.

Well the condensor doesn't allow much air but its running hotter this year, and I also believe due to the TIII being in there as this is the first warm weather I've driven it in. I have a huge fan on and even that has trouble keeping it cool at idle, it works, dont' get me wrong, just runs a bit hotter than before and I think I am going to have issues when I get the A/C going. The rad is 5 years old so its probably a little tired.

As soon as I sell some stuff, going to buy one, for $80, can't really go wrong,

Not to hijack the thread but which one of those would fit a 90 Daytona?

All those rads are the same, roughly 16x14 core size, similiar in size to the van.

They do have larger rads in Preludes and the newer Civics.
