Re: Finally!...... Done-ish

Is that canyon pic on I-80? I had a great time on I-80 between SLC and the Wyoming border last fall. Couldn't go too fast on the way back though....TIII shortblock in the backseat and stuff

Some pics would be cool. Next time I head that way I'll talk the wife into taking the R/T. She just likes taking our Mega cab since we have our Twin girls in the back.

But you never know I still might move there. I'm suppose to call back in Oct and see what the pay scales are being changed to. They made it sound like I have a job if I want.

Here is the video... Just the rough copy, no editing. 22psi, pump w/ a little meth and slicks.

Datalog... You can see the spark blowout in the top of 3rd and 4th. Gap is a little to big. Nice flat a/f. Car is even wanting more meth, even with 28gph jetting thats in there.

Timeslip breakdown.

Good job Cory! Turn the boost up and run an 11!

Get those 60' down into the 1.7's, if a Spirit can do it you can too

Re: Finally!...... Done-ish

its already an 11 second car on low boost.
He is trapping higher in the 1/8th then I did when I ran an 11.9, he shifts better, and he just needs a smaller plug gap to keep it from blowing out the spark in 3rd and 4th.
His 1/8th could have been even higher in MPH without the spark blowout. I only ran 92mph on my 125mph pass (and I lost a cylinder at the 1/8th too!)....which is low 11/high ten MPH with good 60'

Also his first real launch on slicks and he will possibly be launching closer to 7k or possibly off his 7500 soft limiter. He doesn't make the torque I do so my 6200rpm limiter might feel similar to his 7500 soft limiter.

I was testing a pressure plate for someone. It didnt hold. Cindys dual diaphram pressure plates ROCK! Problem solved.

some pics, in no order.

Ported turbine housing.
Was having horrible boost creep issues when I first installed the turbo. Onditty fixed it and picked up some more area in the turbine housing.

Holset installed.

Absolutely dead sexy lotashelbys custom downpipe with external gate dumped to atmosphere. One reason I love this downpipe setup is because its a dsm flange on there, so I can just buy any dsm turbo with a t3 inlet and it will work.

Me today after finally getting some sort of decent results with this pain in the --- car.

Re: Finally!...... Done-ish

his car sounds almost exactly the same as mine when the wastegate opens. Open wastegate is a vibrating roar. You can hear the individual exhaust pulses coming out the wastegate.

The pulsing sound on the flybyes is the wastegate, not the exhaust. its pretty quiet outside the car until the wastegate opens. The loudest flybye hurt cory's ears.

Then imagine a tIII adding 1-2k rpms on top of that and lots more boost...plus adding in the airplane turbine sound.

Listen to the flybyes. The incar is not similar. The cars sound cooler from outside! Around here they call them screamer pipes.

Re: Finally!...... Done-ish

I meant to post this old video of my car doing flybyes.

Then last night, driving home from the track in the support car (my Spirit), he got on the throttle a few times and its really really intimidating. Especially since his stock suspension squats on the road and his headlights flash up.

This is actually his old s70 turbo setup getting stomped on. His car sounds so much better now. He can finally scare me as a passenger like I never tried to scare him :P

Thanks Brent. If it werent for you pushing me, I wouldnt have gotten it to the track that night, and for you to say that means alot. Because you have no idea how much your car used to scare me. Now I just trust your driving too much.
