I think it's time to let the Shadow go. I've owned this car for over 20 years at this point. It's a killer start for someone who wants to drop their drivetrain and stand alone of their choice into something and immediately go racing, on drag and drive events, autocross, etc.
I've changed the car up a number of times over the years, but the one consistency has been that it was built to not be a one trick pony. It's won autocrosses, drag events, won the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge in 2013, won again in the $1000 class in 2014, won car show awards, has won the Spirit of SDAC award, been land speed raced at the Maxton Mile, been on 5 Drag Weeks and did MidWest Drags once and has been a street car. It has done it all.
Below is a long, long description which hopefully will answer most questions. I know that this thing is not for everyone, but for the right person, this is a deal and a half. Prefer to sell whole. Not considering parting at this point, so please don't ask.
Body/Interior:
• 6 point roll bar, 1 ¾ .120 wall DOM tubing
• Straight, no rust
• Blitz black paint done in 2017 or 2018. Shows pretty well.
• Replaced the window felt strips when I painted it
• Lexan hatch and rear quarter windows
• Hatch, hood lightened
• Lightened bumpers
• Some lightening of inner door structures (crash bars, window rollers intact)
• ’90 hood and upper core support
• Lower core support cut out, rebuilt with .120 wall tubing with gussets. Repositioned radiator mounts to lower and move radiator forward to fit late model/larger G body T1 radiator and fan (included with the car). Faced the core support with sheet steel to run air through radiator.
• Lower core support also has mounts on it to support intercooler (see pictures). Intercooler is a Precision bar/plate 750hp unit(will include with car). Intercooler pipe pass throughs are welded into core support sheet metal and come up on either side of the engine bay. Makes for easy piping and keeps the engine bay fully sealed off from front end air
• No heater box
• Firewall holes welded shut with exceptions for stock harness grommet and two grommets on passenger side
• ’90 body harness (stripped to essentials)
• ’90 engine harness stripped to run lights and ignition only
• ’90 dash and gauge cluster
• BeCool heat suppression/sound deadener on inside of firewall, and rear floor areas. Stock carpet up front
• Bolt on trailer hitch (can leave if you want it)
• Spare tire well cut out, steel fuel cell box welded in. Sealed/latching access door in hatch
• Driver and passenger Kirkey Pro Drag seats (17”) and black tweed Kirkey seat covers, mounted on kirkey seat brackets and bolted to modified P body seat mounts. Bolts into floor in stock locations. Drivers side has back brace to harness bar
• G force 5 point quick release harnesses (drivers side expires in June 2023)
• With full cell, trailer hitch, bumpers, T3 motor (heavy), full nitrous bottle, 3” exhaust to the bumper, it weighs just over 2550lbs without driver.
Fuel System
• 8 gallon RCI cell with foam
• Fragola PTFE fuel lines and fittings
o -10 cell to Aeromotive 100 micron pre filter, AEM 400lph external pump, Aeromotive 10 micron filter, -8 to engine back, -6 return to cell.
o 10 ga wiring to/from fuel pump to engine bay
Suspension/Steering
• Dual pivot cast arm K frame, new poly bushings last year, new ball joints
• Rear:
o Converted to use 2.5” coil over springs with adjustable perches. Currently has 400 lb rear springs
o Koni shocks
o Adjustable panhard bar
• Front:
o Koni shock housings with Koni race adjustable inserts. Inserts are new
o Converted to adjustable coil overs, 450 lbs springs
o Ground Control caster/camber plates (new)
• Manual steering rack. Plastic bushing (that often breaks) replaced with bronze bushing. New inner and outer tie rod ends. Can give you a power rack if you’d prefer to switch back
Brakes/hubs:
• Newer 24mm master cylinder
• Braided brake hoses
• Front are 60mm calipers, vented 10” discs, ’91 knuckles with bolt in hubs, long wheel studs
• Rear are 10” vented disks from a ’91, long wheel studs
Other
• 523/568 shifter, modified to shorten through and keep stock stick position
• Cables are there also, with newer poly bushings in them
• 1 year old Miata battery in it…goes with the car. Fits in the track and bracket I made for it.
NOTE: None of the wheels/tires in pics are included in the sale. I'll look for rollers to throw on it or buyer can bring wheels they want to put on.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Pat
