    Cal Changes after turbo upgrade?

Looking for suggestions/comments on cal changes when going from a stock TII turbo to a .63 exhaust housing with 87 GN compressor wheel and housing. That is with a 3" SV and exhaust and a custom log header.

I would probably look at the two maps, and see how much more air the 70 trim? wheel is flowing vs. the stock wheel at a given pressure ratio. You could probably use Frank's turbo calculator to help with a bit of that. If you are adding the new manifold and turbo at the smae time, that will most likly alter your cal dramatically.

I would hope you have a WBO2, and that you play it safe, and work your way up. As always prudence is the key.

No WB02 yet and my EGT guage seems to have died. I do have the CE mod which works and data log through my scanner to my laptop.

With more air coming in we should need to up the fuel a bit. Most likely the pump efficiency table?

I run Singh's grooves as well, which in theory speed up combustion. To adjust for this less, timing?

I don't know about the groves, but you should need some more fuel in all liklyhood. I would not adjust the pumping efficiency table, as that is a multiplyer of all the other fueling tables from what I understand. I would just adjust the individual fuel tables.

Buy the wide band before you spend money on the turbo.

I really don't think you'll need to change anything. The engine (head/intake) won't flow any more air at a given manifold pressure with simply a different turbo. If you port the head/intake or change the cam, then you definitely should adjust the VolEff table.

Thanks Rob, that is what I was leaning towards.

Tryingbe, it is too late. Turbo was bought long ago and is now on the car.

This is incorrect. If his exhaust wheel changed at all, not to mention the jump from a .48 to a .63 A/R his VE will have increased due to reduced pressure in the header. More fuel should be added to compensate.

oops, I did go .63 exhaust housing. Stayed with the Stock exhaust wheel though.

The A/R won't affect the VolEf, changing the exducer size would, I guess - a little. You'd be taking a S.W.A.G. at it at best...

Save money for a wide band AND egt before putting on that turbo.

I respectfully disagree. Peak timing and fueling points should be changed due to the change in spool rate, as well as overall efficiency of the package will be better.

In simplistic reasoning, there's a reason cars make more power on a .63 housing using a stock exhaust wheel than the .48 housing.

I understand that Tryingbe. After the second rebuild I started data logging. Now I data log and have the CE mod.

So far I have not touched fuel or timing in regards to the latest hardware changes. No knock retard happening, yet, but not boosting to high as the roads have been icy here.
