Measurement is all pre run so you can always have your suspension do the rest :P I don't know what the safety concern is that creates that rule.

I'd imagine that traction to keep the rear end planted is a bit less with hard plastic roller-skate wheels

I think some of the Honda guys were using an active hydraulic system to control the wheelie bar height and well it led to a few mishaps..... I imagine the car's handling gets pretty crazy when it changes from a 144" inch wheelbase to 90" wheelbase at high speed without any warning.

I could also see them preloading it thus causing it to act as part of the suspension, causing a huge issue with the back end bouncing.

Back from the dead. Updating this thread with my plans for the BSX. I have decided to hang up the hybrid and go 2.4. I feel the hybrid was very successful and I had a blast developing it over the years but it's run is over

Going with a 2.4 using an SRT block and a 420A head. Looking forward to making some new manifolds for the car. Also eager to get into the cleaning up the engine bay, wiring, etc. It's a long term build but I'm pretty certain it will be out early 2015 Updates and pics to follow...

AWESOME NEWS! Really glad to hear Brian, and can hardly wait to see how the 2.4 goes! NO one can deny that what you did with the 2.2 bottom end was anything less than Legendary....................

Any plans to get a transbrake setup working again (and working better)? That wasn't really spoken of much here.

What are your plans for 2.4L bedplate modifications?

Thanks guys! The goals are the same as before. Break cert- quicker than 8.50, and have fun. All the while learning a thing or two. The cert thing is fine if it happens or not, it's just a goal. Going to the 2.4 will simplify a few items and clean things up.

Yep, the trans brake issue is quite annoying. Part of the game but it will get straightened out. For the bedplate, nothing groundbreaking, it's going to get straps and good bolts/studs.

Have you torn down the bottom end from the hybrid engine? If so, how did it look? If not, are you going to? Please post pics!!

Will you use the stock oil pump in the 2.4?

It has been apart for some time now, I'll get some pics of the carnage.

I freshened up the motor during the winter of '12/'13 after I had cracked the cylinder head. Took the car to SDAC 23 and the motor expired during Q3. Broke #1 connecting rod after it seized to the crank from the lack of oil. The top end survived, minus the divot in the combustion chamber from where the piston hit.

I concluded that the heavy break-in oil I was using was not returning to the pan quickly enough and starving the pump/engine. When I reviewed the data of the runs that day, the oil pressure was dropping during the run and over the course of the day.

    Re: BSX progress....

Brian, did you do anything to help oil return to the pan? I don't know how the oil returns look. I have only had problems with oil not draining fast enough when my exhaust evacuation was sucking too much air out of the crankcase of a high blowbye motor. I found out because oil filled the middle of my Vee block. Lucky I didn't make any long pulls or super high rpms!!!! That was with 20-50 and lucas because of the blowbye/burn so it was very thick even when warmed up.

I hate when that happens. How high viscosity oil where you using?
