Indeed. Now all the real fun stuff starts. I pulled the sterio today and discovered that I'll have to recreate the factory electronic hookups for it. Not a super big deal though. I also need to get the peeling tint off of that rear window.

Peeling tint off is fun! Have a good time with that.

What's your strategy for the back glass / rear defrost? Luckily (?) I didn't have to deal with that when mine shattered. I took a stack of razor blades to the quarter lights and went hard with the scraping.

It's pretty bubbled already. I'll try and spray some alcohol etc. on it and use some elbow grease and a rag to try and remove some of it. I had someone suggest a heat gun, but I have to research that more first.

I haven't had good luck with a heat gun by itself. The guy i pay to remove old tint has some sort of steamer apparatus that looks like a shop vac. I've never stuck around and watched him but his results are perfect.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that method too.

I've pulled lots of tint off using soap and water and some windex to boot. Just need to be careful when pulling it off with the rear glass. As bubbly as it is, it should be only a few spots where you need to be worried. Overall going slow and taking your time is what you'll have to do anyways, so just plan for a weekend afternoon and have Joy make you waffles in the morning to start your day.

That sounds like it should be the first thing to do.

The title came in today. It ended up being fairly easy for Joy to get them to title it as an 89 Shelby CSX here in IL. I'm quite pleased with that.

thanks. The insurance actually called Joy today to request a picture of my VIN number because it isn't playing nicely with their computers. At least the one that is most difficult for people worked out well. Now for the insurance folks...

I was asked to verify my VIN like two times by Met Life. I checked it twice, everywhere I could and it was right so I didn't reply to them. It's a Shelby, but my title says Dodge, which sucks, but oh well.

yeah, I don't think the title thing is a super huge deal. With me it was more about the fact that I didn't want it to be called what it's really not after having the original title say Shelby for 25 years.

Here is a pic of the computer which supposedly killed the last motor in the car. I wonder what the jack is for on the top there. Trim cal type thing, or primitive data logging?

Yikes - Is that hot melt glue or clear silicone?

I couldn't really tell. It was harder than I would have thought that silicone would have been, but softer than the hot glue I've pulled off of them in the past. I actually melted it off with a heat gun and it didn't take much so I'd say hot glue based off of that. It isn't the first time I've seen hot glue on them at all. I actually found the hot glue to be quite easy to pull in the past, but I don't use it myself.

Started removing the tint on the rear window today. It's a real pain. I started out with window cleaner and elbow grease. I then moved up to the razor blade. Finally, I busted out the heat gun and went to town. I'm going to pull the glass for sure, but I got a good start on things today.

Try spray Goo Gone with a plastic auto body spatula.

Thanks. I'll give that a go when I pull the window. It's got to come out so I can get the edges. I'll try a couple of methods and report back.

little handheld steamer works the best. i forget where you get them but it wasnt expensive.

a buddy of mine bought one and now has a tint removal side business lol. its that easy.
