That looks nice! Very similar to some stuff I drew up years ago for an over the tranny mounted turbo. Nice to see it would actually work! Is it stainless or mild steel?

LOL. I got the idea from the LSR LeBaron, so my idea wasn't that unique either! I was just trying to figure out how to fit it in the car packaging wise.

Of course drawing it in notebooks, and actually sticking metal together are two completely different things! Credit is certainly due for actually constructing it!

Whoops!! Sorry, stainless. Going to get it ceramicoated as well, sorta a flat gunmetal or something similar. Not flat black, sorta off from that a tad.

    Re: GLHS 937 Restoration Project

Ok got some updates. These were from a couple weeks ago. Brian started in on the intercooler and plumbing to the intake, looks awesome so far. I haven't seen most of this stuff in person, but from the pictures the IC is HUGE. I just didn't realize how big it was. Also got the turbo in and once I get the oil pan up there to get baffled, everything will go in and the rest of the plumbing will be run. It's coming together! And the proper wastegate came in, so that's good and it's the right color.

Hard at work! Justin is in the background taking pictures.....and that's all.

Crazy. What are your plans for a radiator? Keeping the stock one or upgrading?

Surely you jest! haha Going to something aftermarket or if I have any spare change laying around after this deal, I'll ask Brian to build me one to suit. I want to get AC on the car, so not sure how I'm going to do it, but I want larger than stock, but not crowd too much in the engine bay so I can plumb the condenser. Going to look into the footprint of condensers and what not for AC so I can maybe go small with the AC system, but effective. Honestly, if I have ANY cool air coming into the car vs. nothing, I'll be happy. Been driving the car without it for over 20 years (well between the two cars), so I won't be greedy.

Be greedy on the A/C performance, downright greedy. Cold enough to cause shrinkage is almost cold enough. Do it once and do it right. The only downside to having a fantastic A/C system is getting out of the car on a hot & humid day. Take a good look at condensors that are more effecient for 134A unless you plan on running R12. I've had subpar performance using R12 condesors & evaporators with 134A; using my GLHS and the R/T for comparison. The 134A system(not retrofit) in my '94 Acclaim is beautiful, 50* vent temps when it's 95+ outside.

    Re: GLHS 937 Restoration Project

hahaha, well I don't plan on using the stock system if I can help it. I will use any pieces that are stock in the car currently, but that is limited to the unit IN the car. The condenser and compressor will come from another car that has a smaller footprint. I plan on using or having a custom bracket made so I can go with whatever and plans for a serpentine system are in the car's future. It's going to take some engineering to get it to work, but I don't see it being out of the realm of possibility. I may be out of luck on the small condenser anyways as I've never seen a small one, maybe on a minivan.... Regardless, the car only has so much room, so small as I can is what I am hoping to find and implement.

I know BradP used a compressor off a newer Chrysler application that was factory r134A. It bolted in place of the factory one on his wagon.

There are really nice condensers out there now that are small and efficient. There was a great thread on here in which Warren and a few others posted some great info. Also, make sure to run propane or the stuff that they specifically mentioned in the thread. It's way more efficient than anything you are supposed to run here in the US.

Thanks guys. I'll check into the newer styles and will definitely run propane, as I've heard it is definitely more efficient.
