Holset neon goes to the track

Well, I went to the track to beat some bugs out of the car and was suprised by this final run:

    2.1705 60 foot
    5.6732 330 foot
    8.4628 1/8
    90.58 1/8th mph
    10.8479 1000 foot
    12.8411 1/4 et
    112.75 1/4 mph

Given that the car would not hit high boost circuit boost on this run was as follows:
    14 psi in first
    19 psi in second
    19 psi in third

I did run into a issue with the car not revving past 6400 rpm. So that the last 350 feet of the run I was basically cruising and not accelerating. A/F #'s and EGT's were going nuts but no detonation and boost was rock solid. I am working on this as we speak and I think I have found the cause but, a trip to the track is needed to verify.

All runs were on 93 octane with no meth or spray. The turbo is a Holset hx35 12cm^ with the divider removed. So, after porting and polishing I would say she is a 14cm^.

    Opinions?

I'd say you definately have low 12's capable in that if you can, (1. Hook, (2. Get that last 350' down. You're losing a lot of time to that, but you know that. Might even have some 11's.

    Good run! Got any pics?

I try to launch as hard as I can without pulling thru the lights but, I do not have enough brakes to hold it past 2900 rpm. She just pulls too hard at 1 psi! If I can get the engine torev I could hit around 116 or so in the 1/4. As for elevens I don't think so even though I like your enthusiasm!. The lag is so bad that I do not hit full boost until about the 85-90 foot mark so that blows the whole run. I would need a little spray to kick it up a notch.

Yah, that lag and poor latches would definately limit you.

get the brakes to hold and a nice loose torque converter. Another thing I've seen alot of the Sy/Ty guys do is drop the car in N once your staged. Rev it up once and get some good vacuum while holding the brakes down good. you should be able to feel the pedal pull a little closer to the floor. Drop it back in drive and see how much it will hold.

That sounds like a pretty HUGE turbine housing!

Benji, Thanks for the tip! I will try that since I may go to the track tonite.

As for the AR it should be about a .89 or so in Garrett land.

Thought about maybe using a 9cm housing off of a hy35 instead? Since your not utilizing the divided housing for it's intended purpose, the un-divided 9cm might be more up your alley.

Your 1.22 transfer gears aren't helping the traction issue, or the staging issue. Find yourself some .91 gears and you will see an improvement.
