3.0L Auto Trans in CT or MA

I have a friend who needs an auto trans for his 1988 3.0L V6 minivan. seems as though anything up to about '93 will work, ie Spirit, Lebaron, etc. He has limited funds so it's gotta be local pick-up. Only looking for a working unit - No junk or cores please.
    Thanks, Jim

Thanks Frank - I'm not "up" on my V6 info - anyway, it needs to be a 3 speed.

You might be better off calling up Cliff or Chris Ramsdell and getting it rebuilt. Will save you time and will ensure an excellent transmission.

    They are in CT.

Thanks Frank - I know both Cliff and Chris - good people - they've helped me out many times but this is for someone else who has little to no money and is willing to take the labor risk with something used just to get the car moving again. I was hoping to find something inexpensive/free for him.

I don't have one, but my friend's salvage yard here in Maine has a few. $50 if he pulls it. For that price, pull 2 of them. Usually, there's a couple mopar guys there on saturdays (including me) that could lend a hand if needed.

There's a 1990 T-I mini w/auto there...missing cam, VC, and rail. Wiring and sbec were hacked up by other mopar junkie who didn't realize
how rare a turbo sbec is...especially in a mini.

There's also a town and country or whatever they are T-I woody wagon. All the woody trim is still there. car really isn't that rusty, either...too bad. The same junkie raided the computer and another got the head I *think*.

Other than that, a bunch of minis and Shadows coming in. $100 for the engine and $50 for a tranny. Everything else is pretty cheap and he actually lets people take little items for free. (especially me)

Oh yeah... it's in freeport Maine. About 50 minutes into maine and 5 minutes from the huge LL Bean store.

    Steve,
A friend of mine parents have a house 5-10 minutes from The LL Bean store in Freeport. I get up that way 1-2 times a year. What is the name of the yard?

Re: 3.0L Auto Trans in CT or MA

Freeport Auto Parts on Allen range road in freeport. Right at the 295 exit for LLbean... take a left on route 1. The LL Bean store will be directly on your right. Follow that left on rt1 for about 5 minutes and you'll see a Beebe's auto which is a small garage with junk cars surrounding it. About 1 mile past this on the right is allen range road. Follow that road 1/2 mile until it ends. Do not go to the 1st junkyard you see... go past and the next place on your left is my friend's salvage yard, satudays, he's open until 4 pm and opens at 8 am.

If you go, drop me a line and I can meet you there to show you where everything is at. BTW... my friend the owner there is an old time drag racer of the 60's and 70s. owned hemi cars and is still an NHRA memeber. Make sure you wear a mopar shirt/jacket/hat and and not a circle jerk shirt if ou want the discount.
