Excellent! I have run a head with it since June. My EGTs are lower than average and the oil seemed to be cleaner longer. I was in the process of putting on a new header and turbo, when a crack in the CC means I have to use my spare head. Just finished grooving the spare yesterday.

AutomotiveBreath on www.speedtalk.com seems to have a fair amount of experience with them. I think a couple of years and over 20-25 engines at this point. Admittly it seems to be mostly big block stuff. But his track times and those of the engines he does do appear to be better.

A few guys on www.turbobricks.com have tried them on their turbo Volvos with success it seems. One fellow mentioned he passed his emissions with the grooves and no cat.

All data I have seen is either not hopefull, or the ones that do claim results are not true back to back tests. In addition, that guy who came up with stuff is siting it works from a flawed concept of combustion. I am skeptical for these reasons.

I think it looks awesome. Hell, if that works, I'd be more than happy to use my dremel and carve some lines in the cylinder walls, too. That should really shake up things!

The above post was meant to be comical, as I have no clue on whether this is a good idea or not...but it sure looks stupid.

Ya I saw that link before and I have seen that AutomotiveBeat guy before. He claims tons of credit the grooves, but his was not a back to back test! He changed his compression, cleaned ports, etc.

    Re: The Singh Slash

Not really interesting it all in terms of the grooves themselves. What is interesting is all the big prominent people claim results and they arent back to back tests... they typically uped the compression by 1-1.5:1 and have also cleaned up the ports. Of course it is going to be a better engine... but not because of the grooves!!!!!!!

If someone sends me two identical heads except the grooves with gaskets, I'll do it,

Lets also not forget that on our cars, nobody has matched quench areas between the head and the piston. Kind of pointless!

It has to be the same exact head. So dyno the van, pop the head off, go wolverine style on the combustion chambers, slap it back on, and run it again the same afternoon

    Re: The Singh Slash

I was looking at doing a reverse dome piston (at least that is what I was told the style I wanted was called) that matchs up the CC quench area for my next rebuild. Going to be a while before it happens though.

I think part of the point of the grooves is that the 1-1.5CR increase would not possible with out the grooves. I did increase my CR to a big 8.6. I actually removed fuel out of boost but did add some to the part throttle table in boost because of the g-valve allowing higher boost when still in PT. I do not recall if I adjusted the WOT table or left it alone. I believe a staight groove dyno was done on speedtalk. It was not that great for the grooves alone.
