TM Supporting Members
First off, THANK YOU to all who have paid to support this forum! It helps offset the costs to host the forum website.
Problem
Sometime in the past year or so the Paid Subscriptions function stopped automatically updating a Supporting Member's expiration date when a member renewed their paid subscription. I dug into this today and there is no way to diagnose this or fix it using the forum Admin interface. This means that it must be some error in the code which will take more digging and is a bit beyond my experience level and bandwidth ATM.
Corrective Action - short term
I went in the log to see who paid for renewal back to January 2024 and manually updated the following accordingly:
Supporting Member
phil howard
superbleu
Supporting Member II
CSX321
jeff1234
Ondonti
Shadow
If I missed anyone who renewed in the past year, please reply in this thread or PM me
Corrective Action - long term
Ideally we could fix this issue with whatever code error there is. I'll look into it. If anyone had VBulletin experience with paid subscriptions and how to fix this, PLEASE contact me!
Full transparency - while the T-M forum subscriptions help fund the operating costs, with reduced forum traffic and support, it only covers a fraction of the costs. The SDAC has funded the majority of the T-M forum costs since the handoff from Frank to the SDAC. Fortunately, SDAC membership has maintained steady-ish and the club has enough resources to fund this forum.
With SDAC already funding the majority of T-M, another thought at a long term solution is to have SDAC continue to fund the forum and remove paid subscriptions. Then we need to figure out how to offer privileges to those who are active here. We could have subscribed SDAC member get T-M supporting member privileges, although that is still a manual process. Need to think about this for a bit.
