    520 vs. 555 case differences

    Looking to finally build a transmission and the 555 case I have had met with an unfortunate clutch failure that punched a small hole in the bellhousing. I have a good 520 case and Im fairly sure it will work with the 555 guts, but just want to make sure.

    Im not concerned about the "extra heat treating" supposedly given to the 555 case.

    All the same.

    Yep. I had read rumors that the 555 cases were different for years, but 5Digits et al never said that was the case when asked. There was nothing different except for the gear set and diff.

    one thing to take care are the early/late differences with internals. 87/88 gearset differences than 89 (used 568 style synchros on 1-2)
