1987 Shelby Z white blue interior California car

Bought this for $2500 cdn. Have about 4000 into it so far.

So far we've done 92 k frame, and double control arms, knuckles, wheel bearings etc. Welded on Jonny Spivas bobble mount (also fixed up all the kindergartener factory welds on the k frame)

All new poly bushings for rear suspension. Welded in the 1"x 1/8" flat bar for the panhard bar.

Cut 1 coil out of all 4 springs. Picked up a set of new old stock AC Delco front springs for 40 bucks just incase we aren't happy.

New struts (all rubber and mounts) up front and shocks in rear to replace the 36 year old originals that were blown out.

Fixed up the driver seat pivot pins on the front (enthusiast seat) all functions are working!

We need to pull the dash to get to the heater core. (Well going to try and flush it first) also the headlight flipper relay box likely needs to be resolved.

The headliner needs to be pulled and re done as its got the 80s sag going on.

Front brakes are the upgraded 90+ 11" rotor. The rears unfortunately are still the mechanical parking brake caliper solid rotor. (Can not find the parts up here to swap in, spindle, backing plate brackets etc)

Have to redo the front brake lines as they are rotted out.

All the rubber lines will be changed, along with all the fuel rubber lines.

Onto the engine... what to do there?

It's got some blow by at idle. Deleted PCV.

When you hold your hand over oil cap hole or the PCV vent tube there is plenty of blow by. (Not smoky though)

We plan on pulling the engine, have a new head for it. Regasket it all, new water pump. Running a roller cam in the later head. So got a Mopar perf 5 slot cam gear.

Need to redo all the core plugs as one is leaking.

Not sure if I want to pull the pistons and re ring them or not. Will find out when the head comes off just how bad they are.

Compression is 135, 135, 125, 100 from pass to drive side. Haven't done a leak down test to see if its bad rings or valves. (But the blow by I assume is that 100 psi cylinders rings)

Did get all of Jonnys poly mounts for it.

That's as far as we have got so far. As of now its just sitting on Jack stands.

Need to pull engine, check the clutch etc.

Oh and we got some 17" MSR 5 spoke wheels that we blasted and had powder coated matte black. I put custom CS stickers on the center caps. Going to run 215 45 17 tires.

My daughter wants to keep the nasty purple tint... I hate it. And the rear window wasn't tinted. But has the louvers. The louvers need to be stripped as someone in the past painted them with a brush. And they rattle a bunch.

The exhaust needs a new muffler and I'd love to do a 2.5c swing valve with 2.5" all the way back FWD perf kit. The cat has already been deleted. (No emissions testing here)

Welcome to the site. Nothing like a rust free car from the SW.

Not sure what the full plan for this car will be other than just a stock style driver for a teenager. She turns 16 on November 28th and can technically get her G2 license by July and drive it for the summer/ fall if she gets a job. I might get it on the road for the spring of next year and work the bugs out.

Might pull the engine this weekend if its not too wet, sposed to rain all 3 days.

Just cleaned up my shop after a full mess to build an 8 pt roll cage on my rock crawler Scout II
