I am currently repairing a cracked lower bumper on a 1986 Laser XE. I decided to get one of those hot metal staple tools to help in this process. I had an old Honda scrap bumper to practice on and it seemed to work fine. But when I tried to use the staple tool on the Laser bumper, the material got gummy when heated and did not re-harden when it cooled. I'm not sure if that happened because the bumper is so old, or because of the type material used for the Laser bumper. So, I'm posting this as a heads up for others. (And in case anyone has insight into this).
