Log Intake & Heat Shield bolts

    Good evening,
I am doing some engine work on my 86 daytona turbo Z. One of the bolts for the heat shield snapped off in the intake. I am going to try to get it out, but I'm putting feelers out there in case I have to replace the log intake. Maybe someone has one laying around. Also, if you have the 10mm bolts for the heat shield that would be great as well.
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Lee,
These snap off or even more commonly strip, fairly often. If off the car, these should be easy to drill out and tap. The head is 10mm, but the bolt size is actually 6x1.0 IIRC. Either that or 8x1.25mm. Use anti-seize when reassembling.

ARP makes a selection of universal application bolts with the reduced head diameter found on some automotive applications. stainless and non stainless, hex or 12pt head.

Thank you so much!! I figured next step for me was to go to home depot, test the one bolt in that little male/female thread sample to see what size it is, then order the bolts. That saves me a lot of time.
    Take care,

if it's one of the two bolts at the passenger side .. you don't need to worry about it
if it's the one bolt at the driver's side then a zip tie might be good enough to hold the heat shield up off the wastegate arm

more important is having the two clips that hold the shield up against the fuel rail

you could also make a nice rigid heart shield from a piece of stainless sheet metal

a 70's dart or duster cluster will give you the right shape to work with
I made mine using a mirror plate piece of stainless a buddy had cut out to fit the flat part of a duster cluster for mounting aftermarket gauges in.. it's the perfect size and shape to look proper once in place
for mounting you need to make two L shaped pieces to attach to the manifold at each end
a couple of drill holes in the fuel rail where the o-e shield clips go and two thread clips salvaged from a dash board & two screws finishes the mounting job
nice and rigid .. ready for any stick on heat shielding you like on the underside and a nice polished mirror like finish of flash on the topside under the fuel rail
and best of all you cannot saturate it with spilled fuel
