A/C Compressor from Rock Auto, 87 CSX

Anyone use the FOUR SEASONS 58100?

    https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=988&jsn=988

I'm going to take the C-171 that is on my CSX and toss it in the dumpster.

Front input seal puked its guts of course and I'm going over to the Nippon style.

Any thought on going with the 10pa17c compressor ? It is not a direct drop on and go install in your case but it is a bolt on conversion since the later (91+, 92+ on P body) cars came with them.

The big selling point IMO is that Denso still makes that compressor brand new in Japan so its going to be OEM quality the first time out of the box.

The down side is you need the compressor manifold only found on a 91-93 car and of course the big aluminum bracket is different.

I'd find a NOS unit on eBay:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/255186880139

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/284247189919

I found a NOS one for my CSX for $25 six years back. It was great. It works great to this day. It had box wear like it was sitting on a shelf for twenty years but for $25 I didn't complain. Still works great today.

Thank you for checking, but I'm so done with the C-171 compressor setup.

Found a used Nippon setup local, going to try and install today.

Re: A/C Compressor from Rock Auto, 87 CSX

    Success! Mostly.

Took the compressor, drained it, spun it with the drill to make sure everything was moving free, added fresh lube and slapped it in. Pulled 29 inches of vacuum and filled up with virgin R-12. That can was purchased back in 1987, might be older than some of our board members. It was $80 bucks.

Only problem is the damped pressure switch Mopar 3848627 decided to retire and no one sells a new one because despite millions being made they almost never fail. I must have thrown away hundreds of them! For the moment I have it bypassed with a jumper but I'll have to dig around a bit more in my stash to see if I have one hiding somewhere.

Oh its working GREAT; I'll get 28F from the vents.

My only concern is operating without a low pressure cutout, I'll come across a used switch sooner or later Miles if I'm patient. I need to find a radio too, the AM/FM/CASS that was actually from my '98 Ram decided to finally check out. So now I'm looking for an aftermarket 1 DIN unit that isn't loaded with features but you know how that goes. Running out of time, back to work on Friday!

Last year my switch died as well so rather than replace the switch, I used one of my spare 91+ expansion valves that included a switch on the side on the expansion body...

I went ahead and ordered the last one they had. Now to work on the radio problem.

FYI to anyone who doesn't know, I had back surgery on June 7th and have been at home recovering nicely.

This translates into "I have been rampaging around the shop clearing the decks like a madman"

In the last 3 weeks sold 5 pinball machines (3 of which needed some tuning before listings), reseeded part of the lawn, put up a split rail fence, repaired a tire for the tow dolly, mowed the lawn, a/c compressor on the CSX, attended a pinball show, put up more solar panels, new charge controller and inverter for workshop, 3 new batteries, sold 25 desktop computers, sold a dehumidifier, assembled some display PCB's, repaired and tested two Data East MPU's, did a ton of carpenter work around the house, put up 10 emergency lights in the garage, reworked my cut files and made 10 sets of vinyl decals for various people, shot some video, State inspection at work (I was there unofficially) repaired dishwasher at work (again, not officially) called up and bitched at insurance company a few times, smoked through 2 or 3 TV series, 2 post office runs, 3 trips to the bank and rotated the tires on my CSX.

My wife is a wreck, the surgeon astounded at my progress. "Keep doing what you are doing" the man says.

I've got one thing to say about elective surgery..
    if you're "older"
think on it really hard ..can you manage as is ..

my father's experience back surgery .. day and a half after going to the hospital
he had C Diff.. for 3 months
he couldn't really walk again after having been bed ridden for 3 months .. that was 2010- he passed in 2015 ..it didn't help[..any

and avoiding hospitals ..these days is probably wise

last thing I watched him do for himself was..get outta my truck and walk into the hospital when I dropped him off..

It wasn't elective for me, eventually I'd be crippled and doped to the eyeballs on narcs for the rest of my life. This isn't an exaggeration.

My spinal cord was squashed by 2/3 and getting worse (nerves on the side exits too), this particular problem has been going on and off for almost 15 years now and last July just went to "ON" and stayed there. For an added bonus, I started losing feeling in my legs in May. The last year has been a trip through hell missing several weeks of work due to various flare ups. The amount of relief I have now is incredible, the surgery "pains" are nothing in comparison to what I was going though.

Hence all the roaring around, I feel positively invigorated. And no its not drugs, I have been on nothing by low doses of Tylenol and Motrin for 2 weeks.

How old was your father when he passed if I may ask? There are several factors that contribute to C-Diff including age, various illness and immune system issues, etc.

And I agree with you 100%. In my business I see lots of people go out to the hospital for something and come back with something else.. Most of them are over 65 and already compromised so that doesn't help the situation, but avoiding the hospital if you can is good advice.

Haa! My poor GTX been on jackstands for 5 years now. Now that bending and twisting is an option again I'm looking forward to shooting the bay with fresh paint and stuffing the drivetrain in.

    Tip of the proverbial iceberg.

If I can get the GTX back together and then assemble the Dart I'd have a plenty of working space as stuff for both is in boxes and crates all over the place.

K-car up there hiding in the top left of the picture waiting its turn too.

Glad you’re feeling better and getting the ac fixed.

I want an Iron Maiden pinball machine in a bad way.

It won’t be long before I get ac in the Shelby lancer.

Good to hear everything is going well. My back/lower spine area has been an on-off train wreck for 15+ years now, even in HS (I'm 33 this year, do the math) I could remember the occasional flare up occuring during gym class. The last 3 years it has been a constant presence of pain almost around the clock now. When I get back from vacation next week I have a consultation with a specialist, the first two places I went just wanted to throw pills at the problem.

Iron Maiden has a good reputation, only played it once or twice at shows so my experience there is limited. Newest Stern I have is a Ghostbusters which is pretty fun.

My wheelhouse tends to be restoration of Data East (11) and classic Bally/Stern (7) though I have a smattering of other brands depending on theme & gameplay. We also love electro-mechanical which is unusual as people usually fall into one camp (EM) or the other (Solid State)

Solid State people will breakdown even further! Some people will not own or play a game without DMD displays (128 x 32 dot matrix) and some people just do newer Sterns with LCD's. I like pretty much everything if its fun.

The five pins in the picture below represent 1980 to 2016!
