    Nice. I’ll be sure to mention the club and the site. I’m going to try to get back into the swing of videos this summer. I have some pretty nice lights and camera setup for stuff on the bench. Between this trans and some head stuff, I should have more material. Add in the fact that I just bought a tig welder, and I think I should have all I can handle.

    I recall that rear roller bearing was a pretty spendy piece the last time I rebuilt a 568, pretty sure I spent north of $100 10 years ago. Everything else was easy & relatively inexpensive.

    if you have a trans case , input shaft , throw out bearing sleeve / seal retainer and the original front shim ..and everything is from the same transmission ,originally, you can replace the input shaft cups n cones without using a new shim

    simply reuse the original one..the case and shaft dimensions don't change if working with same parts.. the bearing parts are "knocked" into place and they can still move slightly under load

    the trans will adjust it's tolerances at start up .. it may idle a bit slow for a min or two ..but you should never have an input shaft issue again

    I've built so many of these dodge transmissions and never once measured a "tolerance"
    I simply work by the rule of "not sloppy" tight is better
    things break when they crash and bump into each other

    by that rule of thought every one of these transmissions needs rebuilt at about 50 000miles

    if you need to use the ratchet to test turn the input shaft ..but it still turns freely with a little more effort than bare fingers alone..you got it right

    I adjust my timing belt tension by sound .. while it's running .. adjust for the point the tensioner just starts to "chirp"
    so ..my methods probably ..differ...

    for the sake of argument..
    it makes more reason to me .. that IF I were going to be concerned enough about clearances

    then I'd want to check them AFTER an initial "run in" ..idling in gear wheels in the air for several minutes..
    then the math genuinely ..matters

    Thanks guys. I actually got some of the 1132 shims in from ratech today. I sure hope three sets keeps me going for a while.

    There is nearly double the spider gear end play on this diff. To shim, or to install obx in vehicle that will never need it. Hmmmmmm.

    Well, as usual, parts from my first TM to the rescue. The diff out of my Silver Shadow’s trans had a thicker shim, so I’m just above the tolerance now. Given the slop in all the diffs I tested, I’m not worried about that at all.
