88 14 way connector in FSM

For those with 88 FSM, the cavity # assignment for the SMEC 14 way connector is incorrect for both G and J bodies. The correct assignment is in the 88 Powertrain diagnostics and minimopar website in addition to the non-G/J cars in the FSM,

I have thought I've seen backwards pin out diagrams in my 88 books ..too

thought maybe they listed the pin outs from the opposite side view of the connectors (?)

Yes I believe that was the intent but the cavities are numbered incorrectly. Serves them right. LOL
Here I have a P body but was following the G body diagram.

Yes but the diagram was rounded on wrong end.
One of the other body styles was flipped but the rounded end was properly shown. If the connector was flipped, the rounded end cannot be on the left side.
The P body is correct BTW

yeah I think I noticed the diagrams the night I sleeved the wiring leading to the big smec connector .. with the red sleeve found on the slave CD player wiring which makes a nice little detail to call out the PM to smec swaps..
bought the 86 and 88 book sets from the distributor's warehouse by the science center
    $45 each
.. wish they were still there I'd have been selling FSM's on site for years

Brian, chromeguy, The 14 pin male plug with female pin sockets can only install one way. Mine is configured like this.. If you look down on the socket and look at the rounded end, first position, top row, I called that position, pin14. It has a green wire. If that wire is correct, then all of my wiring is likely to be correct. If you disagree with that position designation, please let me know so I can correct my wiring.

those barrel shaped terminals have little tangs inside them that make the contact with the pin .. you'll note the barrel diameter is larger than the pin's..

repeated connecting / disconnecting or reaming out the barrels thinking the contact point will be cleaner can cause issues

Wow, that must be the reason for my no start, guess I need to start over. Thank you. Perhaps I will have a smec yet.

Re: 88 14 way connector in FSM

I referred back to 88-89 turbo 1 smec by Russ Knise. It shows pun 14 to be the way I had it wired. Apparently this is what this posting is referring to. Is thex14 way connector drawing in his layout the male plug with female pins?
