I need to machine a couple tripod ends for axles on CSX 42 and I’m wondering what the best way to go is? It is pretty low and I have a pile of aci and Saginaw axles lying around. My Lancer just ate a couple more axles and when I installed the new units I notic3d that they are completely bottomed out in their housings.

Should I cut down the spring in there to reduce bind? Is the Saginaw really better than the ACI pieceS? I’ve always thought the ACi looked stronger. Finally, is there any good way to minimize the axle length?

Since the viscous coupling diff in the CSX requires machined axles, I want to do this “right” the first time. I would like to get the Mill set up at school and make a few ends at once.
