    Issues after turbo swap

Swapped the T2 Garret for a converted T1 Garret. Smoke is completely gone.

Initial start up had excessive exhaust noise, popping, and no power. Cam timing off. Readjusted cam timing in the daylight. Set the ignition timing at 11*. Car starts and runs excellent. Sounds great.

1.) As a stock T2 with 2.5" exhaust out the back, there was the usual TD popping under decel which I kind of liked. Switched to an old, old ND cal with +40's and a 3-bar and the popping completely disappeared. Switched to a +40 scaled Blueberry and the popping returned but in a weird, annoying way. Swapped the turbo as stated and now the popping is gone. Only other change was the "new" turbo had a 4-wire O2 of unknown age which I am using.

2.) Seems to lag pretty bad. Power at 14-20 psi seems the same, but the spool time seems longer. I did remove my BOV because the mount I built was leaking boost. I have to build and install a new mount. Will lack of BOV affect lag in second? Could cam timing still be off?

    Thanks.

Cam timing could be off, did you reset or check ignition timing after you reset the cam timing? Popping is the tune or cal as you found out. BOV won't effect lag etc unless its leaking under boost.

Right, but with the blueberry popping annoyingly, I change only the turbo and all the popping goes away. Only other change, as noted, was using the unknown 4-wire O2 already installed in the "new" turbo.

The lag seems to be just a lack of bottom end power. Top end power is, like, wow. Sounds like retarded cam timing to me.

Other than that issue, the car runs like totally so much better than before. Oh, and I also installed a good SDS and a modified MP Neon bobble.

Sorry, missed that. That used ox sensor could be bad, if its stuck rich or lean, it will definatley make off boost laggy.

Sounds like cam timing is still off... retard the cam, and it builds boost slower, but gains in top end; advance the cam, it builds faster, but loses power on the top end, right?

It bounces on the A/F just like it should, albeit maybe a little slower than I'm used to.

Going to try advancing the cam timing. Probably won't get to it today.
