New T-IV engine and transmission from Euro Daytona

I wanted to post some pictures of a pretty cool find that I picked up last weekend. This drivetrain was pulled from a 90 Daytona VNT that was donated to a local tech school. It's missing a few things but is fairly complete. I will post more pictures as I take it apart. So far it's been pretty interesting to see what one of these engines was like when it was new.

It has that lame oil cooler on it. Cool your 210-230° oil with 195-205° coolant. Brilliant! (hehe). Looks like it had some run time on it or at least had fluids in it.
    Nice find Ben!

It was run in the car. It came with the wiring harness, radiator intercooler, and instrument cluster showing 8x kilometers. The original date coded plug wires show almost no wear and the oil still looks like new. It spent many years in a warehouse and then a barn so it has some battle scars.

I just noticed a big difference with the VNT exhaust manifold that I've never heard mentioned before. It appears the engineers finally figured out the lower drivers side turbo nut was almost impossible to remove so the changed it to the back side of the manifold where you have more clearance for wrench.

Unfortunately there was a mouse nest in the bell housing. It doesn't seem to have really hurt anything, but it did make the pressure plate a little rusty on the outside.

In my experience, it's on the bottom because you can't really turn a wrench on the VNT housings with the stud there. I actually modified my S60 VNT to use the standard mounting and it's very difficult to turn it. Honestly, with the way I usually get at that bolt, it is super easy from the top side with the right wrench. I was sorely disappointed with my modification.

A pretty complete and intact VNT vacuum harness.

The original oil filter. It's been banged into, but it's still interesting to see what came on them when they were new.

Here is a picture of the original date coded sparkplug wires. I know much of this is probably super boring, but there can't be many left like this one.

The little tea cup filter looks so cute and it can be confirmed... The water pump to housing bolts do come pre-rusted and seized from the factory.

That instrument cluster is AWESOME! Do you happen to know if this car also had the VDS system?

Reaper1, I'm not certain about the VDS system. It seems all of the 90 engine bay harnesses have the connectors for the struts so who knows. The guy I bought it from is the welding instructor, and he admitted that he really didn't know much about it other than the automotive instructor wanted it but got sick and wasn't able to stick around long enough for it to get auctioned off as surplus.

1966 Dart Wagon, I tried texting you some pictures the day I picked it up but I must have an old number. I will put the engine in my van until I can build a proper 2.5 for it.

If it's the car in the above thread, it's a non-VDS car.

Was the oil cooler a factory VNT item Todd??

    Great score Ben.

    Thanks

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

The oil cooler was a European export market option. The 4 cylinders and 6 cylinders got them for Europe.

This old for sale ad is one of the few I've seen of this cooler:

I believe Mopar Performance sold the same cooler. It’s really a shame that this one is smashed.
