    Wheels and tires, how big?

Looking for advice for our 24 hours of Lemons L body. We are currently running 205/50/15s, we want to run a significantly larger tire. My question is how big and heavy is too big? Looking at either 225/50/15 or 225/45/17 There is also a 245/40 option in both 15 and 17. We plans on having steelies widened. Fender cutting and flares is an option as pretty much anything goes in Lemons 🍋 Has anyone ever ran a setup that they consider too big or heavy? I’ve done the wheel converter so I’m aware of the height difference of the 17

What is the weight increase of the wheel going to be? How much do the wheels weigh?

this might be useful..you can enter any tire size for comparison

I was looking for something to fit a 17 x 9 1/2 wheel...seems tire choises are VERY limited

I don’t know what the weight increase of the wheels will be. There is a guy here in Ga with a very good reputation who widens steel wheels. We are possibly going with having 5x6s widened to 5x8
The 245/40/15s are 3lbs heavier per tire than the 205/50/15s. Enkie knock offs in 17 are also a option as there are a few used sets around for sale in 17x8

I wouldn't worry about the added weight of the tire, but the total weight of those wheels is probably going to be pretty high. That said, if you can figure out your damper needs and have that matched to the springs, you should still be fine. It just won't be optimal vs. an RPF1.

Reciprocating weight and un-sprung weight is a major concern on a race car. Maybe not so much on a Lemons race car, but just remember than your having to accelerate and decelerate all that additional mass.
