Thread: Nitrous usage??

    Question Nitrous usage??

How many guys are using a NOS kit on there 2.2/2.5 turbos. I believe NOS has a kit strictly for these motors. Having said that what are the fuel requirements for it? Can the stock fuel system handle it. I would assume that you'd have the nitrous turn on as soon as you'd hit the loud pedal? I'd also be using the stock mitsu as well!

I would at least upgrade to a 255l pump if you are going to use N20. Nitrous likes a lot of exhaust flow. You will still make more power with the mitsu turbo, but it will be a restriction. You will also be missing out on one of the advantages of nitrous on a turbo car... you can spool BIG turbos with it.

Highly recommend running race gas, 100 octane minimum.

Years ago, like a decade ago, I shot ~100 with a mitsu on my Z and went from 14.20's on boost to 13-teens on boost + juice.

I'd recommend a buttin instead of a throttle switch just so you cen get out of the button before the throttle to prevent fuel puddling in the intake and the associated propencity to backfire.

Looks like I need to write the NOS FAQ pretty soon, LOL...

So, could an 8V on N2O spool a Holset?

Perhaps. Don't know much about using Holsets in a gasoline performance application.

+1 On the fuel pump, you really can't have too big a fuel pump (or ignition IMO). You can also expect the boost to creep a bit due to the larger volume of exhuast gas, so you'll want to keep an eye on that. I've found that the best combo is a mild amout of nitrous and reasonable boost levels, don't go crazy on either one and you'll get the best results.

Add a Fuel pump and back the timing off a few degrees as per the instructions that the NOS kit has in it also when you Hit boost cut the nitrous and extra fuel will still be there. Also keep a close eye on the plugs and you may want to close the gap up a few tho
