    Heater Bypass Valves

I don't want to buy another parts store valve, only to have it go bad just past the warranty period like my last one. Is Mopar PN:3848729 the same as the other heater bypass valves? I'm seeing conflicting reports.

For example, here are two sellers on Ebay, one with the pic, and one without (of course) and I'm sure not paying over $100 for an old valve.

Why don't you just bypass the bypass valve? That is exactly what Chrysler did by the mid 90's. My AC works just fine without the bypass valve installed. I tired of them leaking all the time too. My AC TD's always froze me out without any bypass installed. MAYBE if you were Tryingbe living in the middle of the desert and needed every degree of cooling, but for the rest of us...

Not sure what I find more surprising - someone’s selling a bypass valve for $90 or there are turbo mopars with functioning AC.
    I removed mine as well.

I am looking for ever degree of cooling I can get. In the minivan the conversion to R-134 or Duster like I'm using doesn't do nearly as well as the R12 which the vehicle came with. That leaves a lot to be desired at the back of the van. I'm planning on having the windows tinted this year to help with that also.

That's the one that made it just past the warranty period.

    Re: Heater Bypass Valves

For a daily, could we not install two 5/8 nipples ball valves? One is placed in a bypass line between the two lines and the other is placed on the line feeding the heater core.
Or two 3 way valves which reduced fitting count

I picked up the cheaper valve off of ebay today. If that doesn't work, or fails, I'll go this route. My main concern has always been weight on the hoses causing leaks in the hard lines, but that could be alleviated several ways.

It is the same valve so far as I can tell. We have put some decent miles on it over the past few weeks. The construction of the valve appears to be much better than the 4 seasons one that's available at the parts stores. I hope it lasts like the factory valves I'm used to.
