    what year 555 or 568?

92 3.85 transfer shaft and ring gear with 568 gearset should work with the 523/t350 diff and keep the same gearing with no machining.

I was more putting it out there for those in the thread chatting 523/543/t350.

It's an NOS A568 (0-miles), and an '89 A555 that I have that I'd try to get a Quaife for.

How would the A420/T350 diff work in a '92 A568? They have the same solid ring gear with left side bearing integrated as the other A555/568 models don't they? I think the newest one I have ever opened up was a '91.

Or am I totally missing what you are getting at? (very possible)

You'll need a matching A523 intermediate shaft and ring gear.

    Re: Interchangable LSD

According to that, 3.77 was the only option besides 3.85 in '92, which was already established. That doesn't solve the issue IF a person were want to keep the 3.85FD.

I do NOT want to take apart a 0-mile transmission to install used parts. So, back to square 1. Still need the *specific* Quaife for the A555/568.

I think the only way to do that is to cut out the center of the 3.85 ring gear piece, and essentially turn it into a 3.85FD that's the same style as the 3.50 units. I think someone on here did just that a few years back. It didn't look that bad at the time, but I knew nothing of machining at the time either...

Right, that's kinda been my point. Yes, somebody did do it. I remember that the machinist complained about how hard the steel was, so it was a PITA to cut out.
