Re: Shelby Lancer Rear Disk Brakes Caliper Pins

This seems to be one of the best threads on the internet for rear Shelby Lancer brake parts, so I'll ask here.

Which caliper rebuild kit do I need for these? I have one which needs rebuild for sure, and the other one I should probably look at.

Also, I've read on the internet that the hoses are unavailable. Is it possible to make them, or will I have to pay for that service?

the helicoil in the caliper bracket is a good idea.

I think the rear discs in newer stuff like neons and intrepids and other chrysler stuff into the 2000's may be close enough to swap in as well from a quick glance if we really get in a bind.

Now we need a bolt with a m10 thread.

Or perhaps we could Helicoil/time cert the becking plate to accept M8 89+ hardware???

why even try to save the 30 + year old oddball stuff when you could simply replace the shelby specific backing plate and caliper with regular 89/90 dodge parts that you can find & buy..

I guarantee no pebble beach show judge 50 years from now is gonna be checking caliper pin diameter..
Thanks for the links. It's almost a dizzying array of possibilities. With the tracking down of different backing plates, and mixing and matching of parts, it makes me wonder if there isn't an easy option of a machined bracket and a small Wilwood or equivalent caliper. It would be lighter, offer more variety of pads, and have less crust on it than any other option. Heck, there are some Wilwood caliper options which would do more than what we need for less than $150 each. I'm not saying that's TM cheap, but it could be a nice solution for some.
