Mitsubishi T1 to Stock Garrett T1 swap

Outside of oil lines, any gotchas? Hoping for a direct bolt on replacement. I am not quite ready to go inter-cooled, but head is coming off for gasket replacement.

Coolant feed and coolant return and fittings are different too. Make sure you have the Garrett oil drain tube coming off turbo as it is different than the Mitsubishi.

Thank you for the info. I tried to search my way to the info, but everything I found was T1 to T2 swap oriented. Thanks again!

    Asking for a friend.

Are you sure you mean a stock T-I Garrett?

A stock T-I Garrett is a draw through style.

Somewhat different from a stock T-II Garrett.

Not impossible to do, just different.

    Thanks
    Randy

I actually have a T1 Garrett I was going to use. I have the T1 to T2 adapter? Would it be simpler to use a stock Garrett T2 instead?

The only difference is the compressor cover really. I think there is a slight performance benefit to the T2 cover vs the adapter I've seen in person.

I wasn't criticizing your choice, only commenting on your bolt on intentions.

Since you have an adapter, you're obviously aware of the differences.

As mentioned above, the cover is different and clocked differently.

A Garrett is a nice upgrade over a Mitsu, whether it's an 88 or 89.

Sounds like you're good to go.

    Best of luck !!

    Thanks

No worries, You are right to question as I did not make it really clear. I have very little practical experience and only know what I have read. ATP, I think I might actually bite the bullet and go for the intercooled option while the head is off. I have a hybrid turbo needing a rebuild, but don’t have the supporting mods for it. Thinking about cannibalizing it for the .63 housing to slap on the T2 Garret and calling it good. Thanks for all the input guys. Keep it coming!
