    86 New Yorker Turbo Fuel Tank Removal

    Want to change the fuel pump in my E-class and have a couple of questions before I start. Got the car on jack stands and started looking at electrical connections and hoses to remove. I can see the connectors for the pump and what I assume is the sending unit for the fuel gauge. I am more concerned in finding out just how many hoses there are to disconnect before dropping the tank out. Anyone have knowledge on doing this? Thanks.

    There's the fuel vent, the fuel return, and the fuel feed. You don't have to drop the tank to pull the pump though. I've changed the pump without jacking up the car before. It's not fun with the car on the ground, but you can do it.

    Thanks. I got the car up on ramps and think I can change the pump if I drop the rearward side of the tank just a couple of inches.

    I've done it that way many times too. It does make it easier.
