    I wonder how much this depends on the brand and quality of the tape and how close it is to heat? I've dealt with gooey tape before but it was usually cheap stuff. The 3M/Scotch Super 33+ and the thicker Super 88 seem to be good quality. (I just bought three rolls of Super 33+ for $10 and already have a roll of Super 88 so I'll be getting experience)

    I have used both cheap and "good" vinyl tapes...it never seems to matter for me...they *always* get gooey. I used to like to use it to tape up the ends of convolute tubing, but it ALWAYS ended up coming off.

    Also, I have taken apart the factory wraps to figure out how to do it as 1-peice instead of the multiple pieces most end up with. The trick is to start at the end of the harness and wrap backwards. When you get to a branch, don't wrap UP the branch...just pull the tape to the end like when you started, then wrap back down. It seems like a "waste" but in the end it makes for a nicer, tighter, cleaner wrap that is almost impossible to come loose.
