    Today's best tune up parts?

I would like to avoid cheap chinese crap being passed off as decent parts. I did a search, but it's amazing how little the stock search on here turned up in regard to recent tune ups.

What cap, rotor, wires, and plugs are you guys using these days?

I recently picked up a bunch of Taylor wires for very cheap and they seem like they might even be what Mopar was using a few years back (maybe now too?) for their wires. I've liked them so far, but haven't really ever pushed a car hard enough to notice with wires in my experience.

I don't have anything to add other than similar curiosity.

Friends with independent shops have all moved away.

I used to be able to keep up on quality with them.

Now I'm on my own but don't do much anyway.

I sure hope Rock auto doesn't get political!

I miss the old not shiny AC spark plugs.

    From memory AC 44 XLS

    Thanks
    Randy

Do you run the stock heat range NGKs, or a range cooler? It's amazing the difference in what guys will run IMO.

Did you find your plugs? I've got the same question as you. Doing a tune up on a customers car and I'm sure he doesn't want to change out the champions every oil change like I'm used to on my cars.

Not yet. I was hoping there would be some clear cut winners. Especially in the cap and rotor dept. There isn't much price difference on Rockauto, but I have no idea which ones are actually good. Since I'm buying for 7 vehicles, I don't really want to have something that doesn't hold up x7.

I purchased a set of Platinum NGK in spring 1988 and they are still in near perfect shape.

And here I thought platinum plugs were not the way to go at all. Interesting. I wonder if the iridium jobs out there are better? Frankly, I've always been able to get a crazy amount of use from the Champion plugs.

    EXACTLY!!!!

I only found blue streak rotor and not the cap. For an old man, are normal wires worth it or should I change his stuff out to Rich's and MSDs? I'm thinking this will be the last tune up this car gets before it changes hand if you know what I mean.

I'm very happy with the Taylor wires I picked up last fall. They're the stock style and I got a great deal on them.

Re: Today's best tune up parts?

honda guys run the iridiums in K series turbo motors with great success. I have a set sitting in my desk for my CR-V turbo project.

I bought the Blue streak cap and rotor on ebay. there were tons of them on there when i last looked not too long ago.

FWIW, I believe I just saw a post by Reeves on The Face Book in which he stated he runs NGK BR8ES plugs in all of his 2.2/2.5 cars.

I ran some br9es at one point but they seemed a bit too cold.

    br8es seems reasonable.
