Miles, Please provide more info, cost, installation instructions ect.
Thanks, Jeff
The only substitute for cubic inches is cubic dollars, how fast can you afford to go?
Hi Jeff,
Here is the link that should answer all your questions.

Ok, if I underwent this correctly, I just install the module in the SMEC and then then the MPSciLink will allow me to flash it through the diagnostic port with no direct connection between the flash module and MPSciLink?

Miles

Sounds good. Are people running a key on power source directly to that from the cabin, or something else?
- - - Updated - - -
ETA: With the switch Of course.
I'm not sure if I might have recorded a video of the flashing process, but I seem to think I have. I'll try to find it on my YouTube and post a link.
But, to answer, what I am doing is simply landing an alligator clip on the positive battery terminal to power pin #11 with 12v (SMEC with MPFlash).
Remember too since the MPSciLink needs to start the flash process before the key is turned on, you need to power the MPSciLink with battery +12v also. (It can be powered normally with key-on ACC power.). I achieve this with another alligator test lead from the battery to the power wire removed from the diagnostic connector. (Wiring an A/B on/on toggle switch to the MPSciLink is a cleaner solution so you can select Batt/Acc power depending.)
If I need to, I can try to take a fresh video, showing the MultiPlay switch options and use. But I may have done that already too.
There should be a link to my channel in the signature below (I can't actually see the signature when using Tapatalk) but should be viewable from browser.

Thanks for all of that info. Is there one place which details all of the info in a single post or page? I知 thinking that I must not be looking in the right spot for some of this stuff. Thanks again for all the help.
Well, maybe not a single page, since it is a couple different "products".
MPSciLink stuff here with some instructional pages and video links:

MPFlash information here

If any of it is still confusing or giving you trouble, reach out to me how best to real-time discuss. I should have shown you a demo at SDAC!

Sounds great. Thanks for the info Wayne. I値l see if I can get it fired up. I知 thinking of making a video of the process, if for nothing other than to reference it when I finally build the other units.
Is there any preferred conformal coating or potting compound I should look into? The days of being able to go to any JY USA and pull a good computer for twenty bucks are over and I had had. Any a severe storm kill/maim boards in the past.
I use MG chemicals coatings

Thanks. Do you use the silicone one? Seems like that would be easiest to remove.
Speaking of which, I知 pretty sure I pulled a pad off of the board when removing the chip tonight. I値l be running a jumper wire from the back side of the board to the chip it goes to. Should be simple enough.
This is the one we like:
MG Chemicals 422B Silicone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008O9YIV6...p_mob_ap_share
The new version of this is a bit different, but it works also. Slight different curing times. I had to search around to try to find the 422B elsewhere.

Thanks guys I ordered up a bottle of 422C. What do you put on top of that, or do you just pour a ton of it on?
I usually add a few coats and leave it at that. I am thinking the original goo is poor at thermal transfer, while a thinner coating should keep the critical chips cooler. I am figuring this is why the processor and College chip detach themselves from the PCB on SMEC and SBEC but only a theory.

Miles
