Re: New Flash Product Development, and Pre-Order interest

    SinglePlay's shipped out.
Those who ordered SinglePlay should receive a shipping email with tracking from PayPal.

MultiPlay orders are in process, and you should receive a order update email from PayPal to say in-process for the first assembled batch.
Miles is working on the remainder and OctoPlay orders.

If you have questions, let me know.

Re: New Flash Product Development, and Pre-Order interest

Got 5 more SMEC MPFlash configured for MultiPlay, and coated. The pic was before coating the lower 5.

I decided to add the 3 wires for the SMEC A15, RW, & Prog jumpers. The SinglePlay that got sent out I did not. But in hindsight thought it would be better to do it.
For those SMEC SinglePlay, you will need to clean the conformal coating off at those open through holes to solder the jumpers. I am checking what you need to use to clean it off. Only remove enough to solder your jumpers.

Got 7 more MultiPlay pigtails made up. Maybe I can get some SBEC ones configured tomorrow or Monday.

Can I get another one? Did you get two $65 payments from me?

    got mine today Wayne! thanks.

i take it you are working on the other half of the multi play connector and knobs at some point?

    Thanks,

    Yes.
    You ordered 2 OctoPlay versions.
I'm expected them in the next batch shipment from Miles.

    Yes.
It's kind of a pain to try to remember to update here and FB, but I thought I had!

I didn't want to hold up delivery, as these can still be used as a single bin flashable. But yes, I have the mating connector, and wire to go with this.
I have tested and used 2 micro toggle switches. But we are looking at a simpler rotary switch.
The real problem honestly is what should be an inexpensive switch is still like $11! And is meant to be through board mounted to a PCB.
We can make a small PCB to mount the switch, and use SMD diodes necessary for the bin4 circuit. Then, we will need a housing for the switch.

The simplest solution is two toggle switches and a binary based switch pattern to select the bin slots. But maybe a rotary switch is more aesthetically pleasing.

Also I would like to minimize the lengths of wire, so when we do get to a solution, I might do selectable wire length, similar to how the Nextion display wire harness.

Re: New Flash Product Development, and Pre-Order interest

Maybe I should add an item option now of a length of wire with the MPFlash MultiPlay connector installed, in an order by length?

Then if anyone wants to DIY your own switch or switches you can be in business quicker?

Or, if anyone knows they would just use the toggle switch setup, I could order a batch of micro toggles and include 2/ea for MultiPlay, and 3/ea for OctoPlay?

You tell me guys. The rotary switch shouldn't take long to wire and test, just need some free time on my next days off, but the mounting/packaging solution will take longer.

    Hi Wayne,
Could you make a 1 minute video to show everyone how the two switch option works?

Thank you. I would prefer a rotary option if at all possible. I would wait long as it takes.. would think holding up a bunch of orders and storing and organizing them brings its own issues though.

    Yes.
I should have time next week.
I will rewire mine to make all 4 bins available.
Then I can do a quick video.

Not sure if its economically feasible, but it would be sweet to do an all in one unit with a rotary switch for cal selection and a toggle switch for the bootstrap.

I didn't want to hold anyone up, that is why we have split then up like I did.
Everyone will get their MPFlash configured for MultiPlay that ordered one.
It will operate by default as a SinglePlay.
Once the switch or switches are connected, all 4 bin slots will be available.
This way we aren't preventing anyone from getting what they ordered.
As explained on the store page, the MultiPlay switch and wire will be available seperately.

Trying to find components that are robust enough for everyday use, but not too expensive is a bit of a challenge with this rotary switch. Also size is some concern also. Some rotary switches are pretty bulky.

It was intended that mpscilink could provide the bootstrap power.
That turned out to be a bit finicky with SBEC.
We are testing a resolution, but if that worked it would require some components on the MPSciLink board.

no worries for the switchable cals. i have switches. I have diodes. my SMEC is in the passenger compartment.

I just need to know what connector to get and the wiring diagram/schematic for where the diode goes.

Depending on the logic, I could wire up a 4 bit binary counter (i think i have a chip kicking around) and an inverter depending on the logic level needed.

    Hi Brian,
The A15, A16 and A17 address line of the 39SF010 (or 39SF020 for OctoPlay) are tied to GND with a 10K pulldown resistor. I have label these as Z15, Z16 and Z17 on the PCB due to the processor also has a A15 signal to the flash on the top right side. Thus I changed to Z15 for the flash to avoid confusion.
We used the 5V from the connector to power the switch and when activated will pull Z15 high thus activating the second bin. MultPlay has Four bins and use Z15 and Z16 and thus two switches
    0,0 Bin#1
    0,1 Bin#2
    1,0 Bin#3
    1,1 Bin#4
Diodes are only need for SP4T switches such as rotary

Re: New Flash Product Development, and Pre-Order interest

There are two terminals on the MPFlash for switching bins.
    Z15 and Z16.
    The power sequence is
    Bin1 z15=0v z16=0v
    Bin2 z15=5v z16=0v
    Bin3 z15=0v z16=5v
    Bin4 z15=5v z16=5v

The 5v is available from the MPFlash, and a ground.
The Z17 terminal is to toggle the OctoPlay chip (if equipped).

If using two toggle switches, no diodes needed.
If using a rotary type switch, then position 4 needs two diodes, one forward bias to The Z15 wire, one forward bias to Z16 wire.
(So that when in bin2 or 3 position there is no circuit to the other through the rotary switch position 4 terminal.)
Maybe that is confusing? Maybe not? If so maybe someone smarter can explain it more better?
Edit:. I guess someone smarter already replied! Lol

Last night I added a MultiPlay harness wire to the store.
Will have the mating waterproof connector on one end, and you can use your own switch(es) on the other end.
Lengths from 4ft to 8ft available.
