Omni OEM Air Conditioner Compressor Seals

Anyone familiar with replacing the seals on an OEM air conditioning compressor? I'm sure I have the right seals but the hole in the new seal is about 1/32 of an inch smaller than those nylon bushings that are supposed to go through the holes. The seals are thin metal and I don't want to bend them up trying to force them on. Am I missing something? I did the seal for the condenser no problem.

By the way how do you post pictures on here? It sounds like you have to upload them to the gallery but I can't figure out how to do that.

If you click "go advanced" button at the lower right of the quick reply window it will take you to a new pages which has a "manage attachments" button. I believe you should be able to upload photos there and insert them. If not, try uploading to a free hosting service like imgur or some such and link to them here.

The little nylon inserts were to help center the gasket on the port prior to assembly in the manufacturing plant (as far as I know). They do nothing for functionality. If it seals without them, you are good to go!

I just saw your post on Facebook. I see why you are saying the hole is too small. The plastic insert steps down, and the gasket actually goes under it. The plastic insert helps hold the gasket to the pipe assembly during manufacturing, in the production plant (and centering the holes, as I said before).

So again, not needed in aftermarket service.

Just my opinion, but the Facebook group is more noise than substance. Too many voices, too many opinions, not enough substantial knowledge. This site is where the old codgers hang out.

It is really bad on FB and UNLESS you know the person, it is best to treat the info as suspect.
