I'll put a flow chart together eventually so it's more straightforward.

Wowzer, that looks like it was a huge amount of work, Thank You! There are a number of acronyms in your summary that I couldn't find tables for, ARMPIC, ARRPM, ARMAP. Could it be that these are only in SMEC tunes?
I also noticed that in SPKLMT my table is set at 58.000. This number has never been changed from the original turbonator tune. What does that number represent?

it appears that mptune was working but the table setup for the calc tables is wrong. nevertheless i posted a newer version of mptune today to make sure the calc tables work correctly.
attached are two screenshots that show how both the tables in the smec cals should look. in particular, you need to move the rpmlmt table from the z axis min table to the Max line right above it.
when i get some time i'll go through the smec cals in the repository and fix them.

So, are you saying that from your investigation that my LM will not reduce timing below 15 degrees advance in high rpm/high boost scenarios? if that is true, this is where my high rpm/high boost detonation problem is coming from. My dyno guy sez that 15 degrees is too much advance timing for 18 psi! I did adjust my distributor by retarding it 4 degrees back from my 12 degree initial setting. this seemed to reduce the detonation, but it didn't eliminate it entirely and causes poor running characteristics at low rpm.

have not looked at the LM completely. i just finished flow charting it out. on a quick glance it looks like for the MAP advance part of the equation, that it cannot be below MINADV. haven't looked at how the rpm advance part from govner comes into play yet, singularly or in total.

I'm hopeful that you will be able to shed light on this issue. Thanks for your efforts, I certainly wouldnt know how to do what your doing.

jeff, i should be able to firm up the LM stuff this week. one thing i have noticed is after the "routine" determines the appropriate advance level it then does a weird conversion before it saves it as the calculated advance value. so it appears what is reported in mpscan is not the actual advance degrees but some other value i have yet to understand. can you send me a log of the following values:
calculatedsparkadvance
enginerpm_lm
mapvalue2bar or mapvalue3bar (whichever you are using)
coolanttemp
tpsvolts
averagetpsvolts
Flags_F
temp0
temp1
timer_openloopfraction
baropressure
you need to download a fresh set of all the layout files first under settings/layout files/update settings. then set up the new display. also would like to see what an otc or drb2 scanner displays for calculated spark advance vs mpscan if that can be done somehow.
thx.

Wowzer, I'm wondering which Jeff you are addressing. If it is me (jeff1234) or Jeff C. Unfortunately my MP Scan issue is not resolved. I got a new usb/serial port cable and worked with Gearmo support to check it out. In spite of all that I still get a "cannot open port" error message and mpscan will not record. I did do a comparison of OTC to tachometer readings including degrees advance if that would useful. Jeff C. Has an LM, maybe he could provide those numbers.

lol!! either one actually. probably jeff c if he has a working lm with mpscan. i'm trying to cross ref the calculated spark advance field in mpscan with what the otc reports. i'm guessing the otc has the correct "logic".

I'll see if I can get some logs by this weekend. Else the window of opportunity to get out there and make some runs has pretty much closed until spring.
