I replaced the speed distance sensor today because it was causing the cruise to cutout. I thought it funny that the speedometer didn't jump much when this was happening. However, upon replacing said sensor, I discovered that our 90 Voyager is indeed cable driven for the speedo. Finding a rallye cluster just got way easier. Full instrumentation here I come!

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

Speedo types were the strangest thing back in the day, I've had dozens out.

Some high line vehicles were cable and some low line were electronic.

Two seemingly identical cars could have different speedos.

I never found any reason but never really looked.

    Thanks
    Randy

Here is a photo my daughter took of the van today. Not bad for someone who is 5.

Thanks. I'm really enjoying the pumpers on it so far. They're off of my first TM, so they mean a lot to me and they look great on anything IMO.

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

The van will be sidelined for a bit with a fuel leak in the tank area. Joy sent me pics and it looks like it leaks a ton while the van is running. It's dripping down at the driver's side in front of the filler door. She hasn't filled up recently, so I'm guessing it's pressure related when the fuel pump is on. I'll be able to tell for sure tomorrow. I really hope the lines on the vans are routed somewhat like the cars and not under the tank and all over the place. That wouldn't be fun.

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

I had a vent line or something that goes to the filler tube that was bad, and would dump some fuel when I filled or came to a firm stop. Had to replace a piece of hose.

    Hopefully it is something simple!

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

Thanks for that info Wayne. I was clearly in need of replacement hoses coming off of the tank. My hose which goes from the top of the tank to the filler hose doesn't look too bad to me.

What I think was actually happening would be pretty crazy if true. The cap for the siphon tube had a tear in it at the top, but it generally looked like it was closed and sealed. I think bumps allowed for fuel to work it's way up there like a check valve siphon and then drained a bit of fuel out until the cap could choke off the flow. I could be wrong, but the area the fuel was coming from was right there.

If it's still leaking, I'll drop the tank and replace that section of hose you were mentioning. If I'm going to drop the tank far enough, I might try to find a replacement tank grommet for the filler tube also, as it looks worse than some of them on my other cars.

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

Dorman still has the filler tube grommet. I have the number at home.
I think you can still get a new tank also, if you need one.

My tank looks pretty decent. I believe it's the 15 gal tank though, so when it's time I'll go for the 20gal tank if they're available.

Thanks for that info guys. I'm in the process of replacing the condenser in the mini now. I hope to have ice cold AC by the end of the evening. Thank the Lord this duster stuff is cheap. This will be my 3rd or 4th time giving it a fill in the last two weeks on account of my climb on the learning curve.

the mopar one is probably better rubber than the dorman. mine is only a few years old and the outer layer has cracks in it but it doesnt leak.

Input the turbine housing on the turbo yesterday, so that’s done. I pulled a great condition 523 apart today to replace the bearings before I put it in the van. I still need a swing valve for the TII turbo, but other than that I’m looking good.

The new trans is in the car. It’s really loud, but I’m hoping that’s because oils not getting to everything yet. I checked the turning torque for everything¡ so that should be fine. We will see I guess. It runs and drives fine…

With the exception of the MC going out on me when we reversed out of the drive. That was a real doozy for sure. New MC on the way!

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

The loud trans was actually a section of TB gasket which doubled up on itself causing a horrific sounding vacuum leak. I installed the new MC tonight and I’m in the process of gravity bleeding the rears now.

cool.... gaskets are easier to fix than transmissions.

That’s what I was thinking. Four minutes vs who knows how long to pull it.
