    Re: On another adventure

I just had to fix the lights on this parts van.
Someone wants to buy it. They might get everything minus what I need to repair Mini, or I might just let it go as is.
But one front headlight was an aquarium, and the signal lights weren't all working.
Mostly it was cleaning the sockets and replacing bulbs. The headlight housing needed a crack repaired and sealed.
I think it is good to go now.

The interior on this one is not great. I spent quite a bit of time doing just some initial cleaning so I could feel better about working on it, but it needs a deep cleaning.
The body however is like so rust free it is a shame they didn't give it a better repaint.
Who sprays directly over surface rust?

For reference, here is how much better you did than this:

Wow. Looks like I did really well. Hopefully I'll get up the gumption to bust out the camera this weekend. I know I'll have it out for a local festival anyway, perhaps I'll be around the van when it's light out.

This one looks alot better after some cleaning, but still nowhere like what you are starting off with!
    You did good.
There are no back seats in this one at all.
Looking forward to more pics or video of your find!

I might take some video of this for a YouTube channel update.

OK, here are the pics. It has taken forever, but these basic shots of the exterior will have to do for now.

I relayed the headlights today and that solved the lights not working issue. They must have been eaten by some rodents somewhere. That doesn't make me feel very good, but that's all I can come up with since all I did was cut the wires right after the bulkhead and ran new ones to trigger the relays. I reused the stock grounds and just ran new wires from the relays to the lights themselves. I have a new rad in there too, but I don't understand why there's an outlet on both sides of the cap. I guess I'll have to plug one of them. I also replaced the air filter, and I suspect that I'll be picking up a little power as a result. Frankly, I'm very surprised the van ran as well as it did on the way home with that huge clog in there.

If you decide to ditch the stock airbox let me know. My 90 had a janky Hot air intake on it and I want to put it back all stock.

Oh, the stock stuff will remain. This thing has survived all these years in 100% stock condition. Every little clip and shield is there from what I can tell. I would like to keep it as much like that as possible. I plan to clean up the relay wiring a bit when I do some new battery terminals. That will happen some day...

This stereo really sucks. The display doesn't light up and there's not even a seek button. It's all but impossible to use due to the location relative to the driving position. Talk about base model.

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

Thanks guys. I've already fixed just about every major thing wrong with it. While it wasn't 100% smooth sailing, it certainly went as well as it could being that I was contacted by a stranger out of the blue based off of a post I made nearly half a decade ago. I think Joy will be very happy with the van in the long run.

Thanks. I always tell people that all of these vehicles find me, but this was extreme by even my standards.

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

I put new tires on some pumpers and installed them yesterday. They really help the look of the van. I'll be getting lug nuts which will allow the CS caps to go on there soon. AC is on the way, and the only issue I'm having over all is that it appears to be burning a little oil which is most likely coming from the back of the VC. I'll get a new gasket installed this weekend.

Thanks Chris. We have been enjoying it thoroughly. Joy was pretty ticked when I first brought it home because she hated the idea of it being a 5 speed. She now loves it.

Just tell her that the 5-speed ensures it is ALWAYS worth at LEAST $300! LOL

    Re: Turbo Mom Van

I always figure things like that into the price of a vehicle when I go to pick one up from far away.

Next on the list is installing big brakes and a later dual pivot K frame. I'm a newcomer to the van scene, so can anyone tell me if I need to do anything special for the 94 or 95 K frame I pulled from the yard recently? I have some later knuckles lying around so I plan on throwing those on and just bolting up the K frame. Is it that easy? If I buy replacement ball joints, do I need to buy them for a Spirit R/T like I normally do with the cars?
