Anybody put a tow hitch on an Omni, just wondering what you did/used.

I believe Johnny put one on his GLHS. At one point I believe it was on his website but can't find it now.
Found it:

Back in 1984-85 I had a tow hitch on Matchbox (84 Horizon) and I used it to tow my 81 Horizon (Four Play) to and from the track...kind of scarry at times!

You could try fabbing something that fits inside a stock bumper.

I have one on my daily driver Omni. I'll post up some pictures tomorrow.
The one I made is still on the car, worked great!
Great stuff for great cars! Poly engine mounts and bushings at: http://www.polybushings.com
I've some on some cars that have a plate that bolts to the bottom of the spare tire well.

Welded to the bumper supports
I wonder if the bolts for the bumper brackets need upgraded for that?

A man has got to know his limitations.....
Can't you see that it's been carefully engineered as a torque beam to absorb off axis shocks, and only load the bolts in tension?
Hmmmm smiley optional, not sure myself whether I'm taking myself seriously or not this morning.
DD1: '02 T&C Ltd, 3.8 AWD. DD2: '15 Versa Note SV, replacing.. DDx: '14 Versa Note SV << freshly killded :( ....... Projects: '88 Voyager 3.0, Auto with shift kit, timing advance, walker sound FX muffler on 15" pumpers wrapped in 215/65/R15 H rated Nexens.... and a '95 phord escort wagon PnP head << Both may need to go :( ..... I like 3.0s ... so??? ... stop looking at me like I've got two heads!
I've never used it before and I don't think I ever will. I'm not sure how comfortable I would feel towing a small trailer with this. I would use it for a bike rack.
i just installed on on mine, sorry to being up a dead thread but i really was looking for this info and found none. I use a hitch for a VW rabbit, no mods needed other than clearancing the spare tire well a bit, it was a Curt 11653.
I have one for a charger
not the reese style hitch but the old style flat bar and ball
looks like a cross that got run over
bolts to the spare tire well floor with a reinforcement plate and to the bottom of the rebar
it is what it is and it's not much
good for a small box trailer with some junk I suppose.. maybe a rowboat ?
Hitch on Ramerati. Towed aluminum boats with it no problems
