    Accelerator cable snapped!

    Hey everyone,
    1989 Turbo Caravan stock.

My accelerator cable snapped for the second time, granted its been 10 years since the last one went. It snaps right at the throttle body where the little powdered metal cylinder fits in the plastic housing of the TB. Braided wire fails. Is this ususal?
I ordered one from Rock Auto, and much to my frustration, they sent me a cable with a flat metal tab with a hole in it instead of the powdered metal cylinder on the end. Can anyone help me find the correct part? I think last time this happened, I just bought a used one off someone on here.
    Thanks,
    Lee

i do belive rock auto still carrys them thank goodness. because i had to order one recently.

if i remmber right they list them for the NA's as crossed over to the turbo. which is not correct.
i had to change my recently as well and dug around a bit on rock auto to find the right one.
let me see what i can do for you

yes yes.. the 89 turbo van is the N/A cable

order the ( its literally on my van now) 1989 daytona cable and use that.
    it has the correct ends.

Screw you throttle cable. A small engine fire may or may not have also melted the cable cam on the throttle body.. rock auto has the right cable. but the one listed for the van is WRONG. had to go to a 89 daytona 2.2 turbo. the one for the van is a TBI cable.

Thanks guys. This really pisses me off, because Rock Auto will not fully refund shipping. This has happened a couple times, but it was my fault I ordered wrong. This time, its them. I'll never use them again. I ordered an 89 Daytona cable at Autozone. Thanks again!
