    DRB II teardown pictures

If anyone wondered what a DRB II looks like from the inside, here it is.

    Things I noticed:
The CPU ist not Chrysler branded. Its straight up a MC68HC11A1FN.
Probably because OTC build the stuff.

The socketed Harris chip is labeled with 306846 H 9045
The last digit probably showing the manufacturing date, the first part the part number.
If this is the CCD chip the part number differs from the one seen here at Allpar, which is 4374040 H 9141.
The CCD chip in my electrical instruments cluster reads 4374040 H 9215, similar to Allpar.

Also the brown wire coming from the DIN plug is not connected anywhere.

Someone posted having changed the LCD to a backlighted one. I've wanted to try that swap sometime, but it is just one of many things on many different lists!

I'd just go with a SnapOn MT2500 instead. The newer version (with a little light symbol on the front) also has backlighting.
No need to mod a precious DRB II

    Thanks!
I really need to do that to mine. It has a mark on the front of the display area. But it is still useful!
