I want them now lol. Sourced roller needle bearing to replace the washers between the drums. Still trying to find one to make work at the pump/high gear drum.

looks like alot of work. do you weld braces in your tranny. I use to but seems like a wast of time with a stock pinion. I use to get my gears heat treated seems to last longer but my guy stop doing it. whats your thoughts on that.

Yea a lot of R/D going into it. But they should have been done already. I do weld braces, run billet ring/pinion and pinion support. I've never ran factory gears, so I cannot speak for them. I know heat treat plays big deal with my billet parts.

If and when these come to fruition I'll probably be in for two sets. Just blew out the snap ring retainer tangs on my forward (rear most) clutch drum in my SRT4 van losing all forward gears. I wasn't even racing. Leaving a bar after a car show, pulling out of the parking lot and "bang." Had enough momentum to coast across the street and park at an Autozone.

Re: Billet forward and direct drums

Trying to get us there. These will use torrington bearings between the pump and direct drum as well as between the forward and direct. Having custom wide bands made as well. Will post more pictures as we progress.

Re: Billet forward and direct drums

I assume that the torrington bearing means less friction? Thinking towards future rebuilds, how easy/common is it to have a custom band made? Thanks!

I don't mean to side-track the discussion, but as I get excited about these -----'N parts, I'm asking myself if the foundation will be ok, as in will the case be OK, or is is a moot point without addressing other shortcomings...

Nothing worse than putting "super-bad-azz, double throw-down" parts into something that will be akin to a blender if not updated/addressed.

Since I stopped welding braces in the case I haven't had any case issues. I'm breaking internals. I'm putting out 395 HP, 450 ft/lbs torque in a 3600 lb van.

Re: Billet forward and direct drums

The bands I'm going to be doing in 50 minimum on them. The good thing about a band is that it can be relined, and its not a total lost.
The case is always going to be a problem, I would like to try one without welding and pinion support installed. Also have some ideas to improve pinion support.

Then at the end of the day, a billet case is always an option.
