    Replacement CV axles

It seems that all the new CV axles for our cars come with exciter rings for anti-lock brakes, at least back to 1987. I ordered axles for an '89 with an automatic. Will these work, or would the ones for a 1986 model work better?

    Re: Replacement CV axles

I have used axles with the rings for abs on non abs cars with no problems.

1986 would be small inner spline.

I'm assuming you run a large spline trans??

    Thanks

I don't know since it's an automatic. I'm only familiar with manual transmission cars.

    Re: Replacement CV axles

Automatic L bodys got large spline axles in 1988, all other cars got them in 1987, both auto and manual.

    Thanks

    Re: Replacement CV axles

Once again, Randy comes strong with the little details. I've been burned in the past by an auto I thought would take large spline axles, but was a small spline unit. Best to measure if unsure. I'm not sure the size difference off hand.

    Re: Replacement CV axles

one of trhe posts here last year or maybe the year before (?) recomended "detroit axle"
I looked the listings up and the prices were good
someone on the same thread said they were a decient part too

I think the abs ring could be knocked off easiy if you want too
    many are only pressed on
