    Oil in blow-by

I let my CSX idle the other day to prepare for winter as she is not "on the road" yet. 2.5 TII CB with FMIC.
A PO connected the PCV valve to valve cover (Currently a CB turbo VC) as per norm but placed large tube from rubber 3 way and terminating just over the MTX. Any oil that gets past the valve cover baffles will leak directly on the road. In 15 minutes, I had 10mL of oil on my driveway.
I have not checked the engine's compression or leak down yet (apparently only 11K on the motor since the rebuild, but who knows what is the real story). The short term goal is to ensure the car does not have any fluid leaks so I can pass the local safety regulations.

My question is. Any easy way to improve oil removal from the blow by? My idea
    1) Install a 4 inch vertical rise pipe packed with a high surface area polyester filter ( as used in my aquarium, for example)
    2) Add a catch can after #1

    Ideas are welcome

grab a coolant surge tank. or a PS fluid resv.
stuff it with filter media/catch media.
should be good to go. for inspection at least.
I was using a WRX steering reservior for a while as a catch can.

    Re: Oil in blow-by

There is a tsb I think on resealing the inside of the valve cover where the pcv oil separator is that might help. Oil should definitely not be leaking out the vent tube at idle as the pcv valve should put a small amout of negative pressure inside the crankcase with fresh air being drawn in through the air filter housing. Under high prolonged boost some fine oily mist can be blown out the vent tube. Chrysler had a good solution for that problem with the 90 model and later air cleaners. They put a drain tube with a one way check valve in it and teed it into the oil drain back tube for the turbo. Oil blown out of the valve cover under high boost collected in that tube and when you let off the throttle and the crankcase goes back under slight negative pressure the oil is sucked back into the pan via that tube. Factory catch can with automatic drain!

Maybe we can work out a deal where you borrow my leakdown tester?
