FWD class at Heads Up No Prep, September 8, Onawa, IA

Hey everyone, several SDAC members are looking for fellow TMers to join us a month from now to race in the FWD class at Onawa Racing & Event Center near Onawa IA. It's about an hour drive north of Omaha NE, just off I-29. This is the last No-Prep race in the Midwest with a FWD class, heck the only No-Prep race with a FWD class period that I'm aware of! Iowa, Nebraska, S.D., Minnesota, Illinois guys come on out. They've been a blast to watch the last 2 years. I plan on running at this event, my first time.

The class rules are pretty simple and wide open. Pass tech inspection, have a FWD car, and pay the buy-in for the class. Any engine, trans and tire is allowed. Anything from a bone stock '79 Horizon to Brian Slowe's Shadow, to your ex-wife's Toranado or the kid with the turbo Honda down the street is welcome.

Here are the details and all the classes available if you'd like to bring something other than your Turbo-Mopar.

That's only about a 19 hour drive. Not as far as I thought.

Sounds like fun, but it's a 9 1/2 hour drive for me. Would love to do an event like that if it was closer...

Warren, I do not know anyone with a FWD that has raced at this track. They just opened up this season. The organizer has done a great job with the previous no-prep races at our home 1/8 mile track, I-29 Dragway just south of Omaha. I'll see if I can get Forcedfedmopar to comment here on the quickness of the field, I don't recall any E.T.s offhand.

the class is pretty much consist of high 6 and 7 second cars (1/8). You would have a VERY real chance at winning. Although, more often than not a street car wins the class because they can go rounds without breaking. It is also a pro tree event (.400) so when you get into the second bulb, be READY!!! I'd love to have you down!

On a good track I can go 6.3-6.4 1/8, without breaking I'm not crazy about the no prep though.
