simple question , can I use the neon throttle body with the neon tps and ais with an 88/89 smec
???
hopeing an aftermarket neon TB is the short easy way to a big throttle body
I've paid zero attn to neons thus far so I really know little about them

I have used a Neon TB with a SMEC worked fine. I think I may have used the TPS from the turbo engine tho. You also have to open up a passage for the idle air. The neon has a divorced path for the idle air. Just grind a notch in it.

great , thanks
that's the simple positive answer I was lookin' for !!
What neon throttle body are you trying to use?
I was looking at the oversized TB's from modern performance (60-65?)(I think) and the bomba 70 mm TB
thinking was IF the sensors are compatible with the smec then one would be a neater & easier way to add a larger than 58 mm TB
- as opposed to the ford TB and it's required external ais system
I was informed you can run without an ais if you can tune. I have a 58mm 3.8 tb I just ported and a 60mm Jeep 4.0 tb that I'm going to modify to work also. The modern 60 is kinda spendy.
(HEH HEH HEH)
yeah the boomba is too
...'cept just this very moment I came here from responding to a local add for a slightly used boomba TB for 250 bucks ..probably a little less than half what a new one would end up costing with shipping tax and exchange
my karma this past week has been freaking amazing...I was only looking for a neon throttle cable bracket when I found it
which I found on ebay for 20 bucks , plus 40 more to mail it.. pass - so I checked the local adds
and it's red , oddly every 2.2 I've built had a red TB that matched the engine block as one of the things I always do ...
so it looks like I'll have one of Adam's honed out /rebuilt 58's that I won't be needing now
as yet still unpainted..
(wink, nudge)
