    Advance gauge reads high

Hey all, Can someone tell me how to adjust my ADV gauge on my L/M profile for MPSCAN. By adjust I mean that the gauge reads 58 degrees advance all in when the actual advance if around 40-42. Is there something I can change in the settings?
    Thanks

    Re: Advance gauge reads high

I think Morris needs to help with this.
But when do you see your advance go that high? Only decelerating? Or during normal driving?

    Re: Advance gauge reads high

Looking at one of Jeff's logs, the adv value is never lower than. 41deg and as high as 58 deg, regardless of map pressure/vac, or tps values which obviously isn't correct.

ya, another thing that needs to be looked at! multiple individuals have sent me logs that look just like that! something special about the LM ecu. jeff, i really should have you create a "user" gauge for "CalculatedSparkAdvance" and put the min/max settings to 0 and 255 and do a log. make sure you also get rpm and map. that way i can see what the raw values are. it may be something simple like the range is just wrong or maybe it's like the knock sensors where the upper bits are used for something else. sure wish rob L was still involved......... :-(

I'll take a look at it. What am I looking at? IE, what value are you logging?

    Re: Advance gauge reads high

Just looking real quick, the LM does some stuff with the 'CalculatedSparkAdvance' AFTER it's calculated and before it actually uses the value for ignition.

There's "MXSPK1_MaxSparkAdvanceUknown1" which seems to be a max advance when decelerating, and "MXSPK2_MaxSparkAdvanceUknown2" which I don't know what it's for. Unfortunately, the final advance value seems to be stored in Temp5 before being used. So, there's no way to 'see' the actual final advance value.

    Lemme look some more.

    Re: Advance gauge reads high

Also, I think CalculatedSparkAdvacne is a signed value. Meaning bit 7 is the sign, not an actual value. I don't remember how the gauge is setup to read it in MPScan...

ecu min/max is 0/127. might be worth putting a store command to an unused ram location right before the value is used by the ignition system?

The LM is really tight on memory locations. There's nothing available to use for that...

It sounds like this is going to be a problem with the LM unless they can get something worked out.
