    Lubricate clutch cable

Is there any preferred lubricant for a clutch cable? I've got one that I'm about to install, but it's been sitting around for a good while.

I haven't done this myself, but graphite spray lube sounds like it would be perfect for that.

They make lubricant specifically for cables. I used some on a speedo cable from a Miata that was squeeky. Worked good.

I was going to guess cable oil, but is oil not proper for this?

Dissolved grease in an aerosol can? I've got a can that says it's for rollup garage doors.

Thanks all. I actually ended up using silicone spray. Permatex even recommends it for cables.
