    Tips replacing head gasket

I have come to the conclusion that the kocking of my motor is the head gasket(see http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8228 for my details). I was wondering if there were anytips about replacing it. I am thinking about getting this head gasket. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Does anyone recommend it for just get the felpro one? I am also going to get new head bolt any everything. While I am at it I am going to make a vacuum manifold to replace the jumboled up valcuum tree I have right now. I have already removed alternator, top radiator hose and draind the coolent. Right now I am going out and undoing the throutle cables and sensors. One Saturday hopefuly I will have enough time to remove the head. Please give me any pointers it at all possible.

Wrong head gasket, you need the P4452005 gasket.

Soak the exhaust studs etc with penetrating oil. Remove turbo, intake etc as one unit. Undo the rear turbo brace, drain back hose, coolant supply hose.

I would strip the head and have it pressure tested and if good, machined flat.

    Yes and yes,

I personally prefer studs, due to the fact there reusable infinite times and later on, when you build up your combo, the studs will work great.

+1 for the studs. The next time I have one of my cars apart they will be going in. They would have paid for themselves by now in both my cars, and would serve to make life easier.

    Re: Tips replacing head gasket

Will I need a different gasket because I have a t1 block and a t2 head? I think that is what I have from what the previous owner told me. So that means I don't have a cross drilled block. Are their different marking on a cross drilled block vs a non cross drilled block?

Use the 005 gasket on EVERYTHING, the 006 blocks coolant passages.

    Re: Tips replacing head gasket

If any side is not crossdrilled, you want the non-crossdrilled gasket. They actually block off one of the other passages to force water through the cross drill hole, but if the head or block doesn't have it you'll get a hot spot. You can always drill the missing hole, though.
